So my college is holding a robotics competition called Ironbot (http://ironbot.org/). Students in computer science, electric and mechanic have to team up to build the best robot who can do 3 tasks the best, such as obstacle courses and stuff like that. Also it stands well on a résumé.
Registrations are next Wednesday and I'll sign up, of course :)

Cool! I wish I could get a home work assignment like that! LOL (im only in high school)

Dang...
/me is green with envy

I once told principal about the idea of holding calc programming contest (Seriously)
But there's no reply...:(

So yeah, it's more a robotics club, but still. We have tasks to do, we have to make a robot that is remote controlled (the catch here is that we don't have to physically see the vehicule, so we have to use cameras), can follow lines (a classic in robotic competitions) and can lift charges.
My idea for the remote control is to use Wi-Fi and the Android platform (with all the accelerometers).

Have you heard of the FIRST competition for high schoolers? My school has done decently, historically... and in two years I'll be making a robot. ^_^ (I'll be doing the programming, p > 0.95)

My school's team (1899) is also doing the FIRSt, and Vex competitions. Me and two others are the only new members with programming experience >1 year out of the 40 or so freshmen who joined so we'll be doing programming :), but we also get to work on building at first as there's nothing to program until the robot is built.

Good luck Juju, I hope you win. :D

Thanks. Also I bought an Arduino Uno tonight for use with the robot, omg it's so small and cute~

Nice to hear. I wonder if you had a bunch of projects planned with it?
