31  General Discussion / Miscellaneous Discussion / What I've been up to on: 04 December, 2009, 14:40:48
Hello everybody! I see alot of new faces here so some of you may not know me. I used to be staff here and have been keeping up with the TI community on and off since 98. Anyhow, around June or so I disappeared. I hadn't completed any recent projects and had kind of lost interest. I also started doing amateur voice acting around that time period and that has been taking up some of my free time. I really enjoy it and it's something I am currently pursuing. However, portable platforms have always held a certain allure for me, and I can't ever seem to leave them behind. I blame my parents for getting me that original gameboy back in 1989. There have been alot of great works going on since I've been gone. Calcmaniac continues to amaze with TI-BOY and chips challenge 8 lvl grayscale (which btw looks great on my TI-83+ BE, but doesn't work properly on my TI-83+SE. If no one has documented this I'll post a video of it later), not to mention F-Zero or TI-BOY for the Nspire(eventually) that is being written in ARM ASM now. =) Iambian continues to press forward with The Lost Legends (renamed Shadows of Escheron now? What ever happened to Grendel anyway?) which also looks amazing. I am glad someone that is dedicated to it finally picked it up! =) And lets not forget Illustait (spelling?) 13. It's a shame it isn't finished yet, which is the only reason I have yet to play it. Ah well maybe someday. Wink The metroid eske BASIC game in production by Buliderboy looks really neat as well, and If memory serves there is also a really cool looking version of Shift out. Digitan is still hammering away at the massive Robot Wars... Oh! and all the keys for signing OSes and APPS have been cracked! Not much has changed really aside from that. Wink I plan to be around a bit more, and there are some projects I'd like to work on... but who knows. I never seem able to make the time so we'll just have to see on that one.

P.S. I also see you guys do Skype conferences now, I'd love to join and chat sometime!
32  General Discussion / Pixel Art and Drawing / My pixel art on: 16 February, 2009, 03:31:06
Ive been fooling around with some more pixel art latley so I thought I'd share it here. This first Image was done on calc while Looking at the title screen of the Super Nes version of this game. I actually had done one of these before(long ago) but I lost it when my PC crashed a while back.
33  Calculator Community / TI Z80 Calculator Projects / Black Jack game on: 02 February, 2009, 06:54:13
I haven't done much programming wise latley, so I decided I'd do something fairly simple to get back into the groove of things. I've been working on a Blackjack card game in my spare time for the past few days.
It's in TI-BASIC (83+ Series) and is about 25% completed I'd say. My goal is to keep it between 2kb-2.5kb for the program and variables.
Planned Features:
-Actual simulated 52 card deck with suits(done)
-Keeps track of money and wins and losses
-Graphical(partially done)
-5 card charlie
34  General Discussion / Pixel Art and Drawing / Best sprite size on the TI-83 series (tilemap) on: 07 January, 2009, 06:49:03
Just out of curiosity sake, which size do you prefer? Take into consideration that this would likely be used in a non-action type game. I like 16x16 as the sprites are more detailed, but I hate that you see so little of the screen. 8x8 gives you a nice area in which to move around and lets you see plenty of the screen, but the sprite detail is LOW. 12x12 is in between, but seems kinda meh to me. Anyhow, I was wondering what other peoples thought on this were.

36  General Discussion / Gaming Discussion / Guitar Hero world tour on: 15 November, 2008, 06:53:35
So, I managed to find a full kit for Gituar hero world tour for my Wii monday and I haven't been able to stop playing it. This is the best game in the series by far and it has a really awesome set list. Playing all kinds of different instruments on it is really fun and I keep messing around with the create a charter too. So anyone else played this/got hooked on this yet? Cheesy
37  Omnimaga / Site Feedback and Questions / Download scetion on: 04 September, 2008, 04:33:05
About the screen shots, wouldn't it be possible just to add them on the page where the zip is? Could you expand upon what you were saying about creating a new download system as well, I'm not exactly sure what you mean. When you say it doesn't support html that is odd because the board itself supports html for the posting of pics.
38  Calculator Community / General Calculator Help / Hp 50g on: 19 February, 2008, 05:52:00
I was in Circuit city earlier today looking at the calculators and this happened to catch my eye. Upon closer inspection I found out that this was a fairly expensive calculator that supported CAS... just like the TI-89. However... this thing is a beast compared to the TI-89 . It has 512k user ram and 2MB archive (no big deal here)but, this sucker has an SD card slot . That is crazy. Like the TI-89 Titanium it also has mini usb, but it also has infared data transfer. How cool is that? Also, while the TI-89 has a 12 MHZ motoralla processor this thing packs a 75 MHZ ARM . This thing retails at 150 USD which is also the same as the TI-89 Titanium. This thing is drop dead sexy, so my question is why don't more people own these ? I'm considering getting one myself. Thoughts?
*edit* (131x80) b&w display vs. TI-89 (160x100) b&w display. So the display is smaller than the TI-89 but larger than that of the TI-86 (128x64) or the TI-83+family (96x64)
*edit*Programability: RPL,IPL,(forms of lisp, whatever that is)Hp BASIC,Saturn ASM(ASM that their older calcs use I believe),ARM ASM. hpgcc.org Yes, it supports C also.
Also has a built in clock function with alarms. Can be powered by battery or USB.
39  General Discussion / General Music Discussion / New music discussion on: 13 February, 2008, 09:04:00
I know on the old forum some people were interested in power metal and bands like Dragon force and the like, so I though I'd share this new band I came across. The band is called Rhapsody of fire. They are a symphonic metal band and they incorporate alot of elements of classical music into their work. Alot of their lyrics focus on fantasy, and most of the compositon is pretty intricate. If you're into Metal and dont mind alot of instrumental interludes I definitly recommend checking them out .
40  Calculator Community / TI Z80 Calculator Projects / MTG-like card game on: 06 January, 2008, 03:08:00
This is something ive been toying around with this weekend. Hopefully I will have some screenies of it up in about a week or so. It's done in BASIC + Xlib. I started off played magic the gathering for a while, (98-99) and I've been an Yu-gi-oh player on and off since 99.Ive recently been playing the old pokemon trading card game on a gbc emulator, and this is what really gave me the idea to try this. Hopefully you guys will like it . ^_^

*Edit*
Game Description:
If you have ever played Magic the gathering or any other similar trading card game (VS system, Yu-gi-oh, ect) this game should feel familar to you. My goal is to create a game that is similar in style to Magic the Gathering but in a more simplifed way that is catered to fit the calculator format ( IE, a limit to how many monsters are on the field, a deck size limit, and other similar limitations) . There will be monsters and spell cards alike with different elemental attributes, with each element having it's own unique attributes just as in Magic the Gathering (IE- white element has healing, black has death, fire has direct damage ect.) The goal is to reduce your opponents life points to zero before they can reduce yours to zero via attacking with your monsters or by damaging them with spell cards.

43  Calculator Community / Other Calculator Discussion and News / Fryed software is still around on: 14 November, 2007, 19:58:00
For those of you that are newer to the community this may not mean much to you, but Fryedsoftware is a group of 2 individuals that have been a part of the community for around 10 years. They made some of the first great RPG's that came out including a FF7 game, a bubblegum crisis game named nene's adventure and many more I am sure I am neglecting. I can't tell you how amazing and great this is to me as no one else I know from when I first joined the community is still around. My hat is off to you guys at fryedsoft, that really is something else.

44  General Discussion / Introduce Yourself! / Introduction on: 29 October, 2007, 21:30:00
I have never formally introduced here, so I thought I would take the time to do it here . I am rather new to these boards but I have been with the TI- Community for some time. I started programming in TI-BASIC in 98 or 99 when I got my first calculator; a TI 83 for highschool. This was back in the days where Bill Nagels ASM programs were fresh as were those of Jimmy Mardell, Void productions, Sicode, and many others. These games inspired me and I made several games and minor programs of my own. My most advanced one before I left the community for a while was a fully graphical(graph screen) Black Jack game with suits that simulated an actual deck and saved wins, losses and money. I left for a while in 2001 and watched the community progress sporadically. Eventually a year or so ago I managed to stumble onto Revsoft, and Spencer's massive Zelda project. This sparked my intrest again and I began to keep up with the community more again. I was eventually led here from finding some of DJOmnimagas RPG's in the Ticalc archives and also links from Revsoft and Maxcoders; and well here I am! This site is the most active I have found, and it has a very friendly and open envirnment and I am glad to be a part of the team here. I own a TI-83+, a TI 83+ SE, a TI-86, and a TI-89  I currently know html, TI-BASIC, and I am TRYING(Sigh <_<dry.gif ) to learn ASM.
45  Calculator Community / TI Z80 Calculator Projects / Un-named RPG on: 29 October, 2007, 21:14:00
The first RPG I have ever worked on. This project is being made in BASIC + XLIB and will be fully graphical. This project will be quite a learning experience as I have never done anything this large scale so I imagine it will take some time as I learn as I go Smileysmile.gif. I will try to post a couple of screen shoots soon of small things I am working on ATM.
