The diags software happens to clear out the SRAM, which fixes some Nspire CX calculators which flat out refuse to boot properly (even calculators on which Ndless has never been installed exhibit the bug...), in a nicer way (especially during exams ) than carrying a screwdriver around for opening the calculator's back to remove the battery
