Dumping your TI-Nspire is needed for some specific tasks. It might become more and more needed soon Wink

But the dumping in itself is a very hard task...

First, according to the element you wanted to dump (Boot1, Boot2, Diagnostic, or OS), you had to get a different program.

Second, those programs (when they do exist), haven't been updated for months/years... They often need a very old OS/Ndless pair you won't be able to install.

With the help of Bsl, Goplat and Extended, I've just released PolyDumper.

Don't worry about the element you want to dump anymore: PolyDumper dumps everything: Boot1, Boot2, Diagnostics and OS! Smiley

Moreover, PolyDumper has been compiled for 6 Ndless versions, covering more than 15 OSes!
You can dump your 1.1 prototype Boot2 as easily as your 3.0 CX Boot1, if you manage to get Ndless 3.1 of course Tongue

Hope it will be usefull to you! Smiley

This is awesome. This will make Nspire CX emulation much easier I assume, right? (Since there was some issues about Boot2 or 1)

Right Smiley
For non-technical (legal) reasons, one needs the boot1 of a Nspire CX to emulate it properly.

Will this work for the Nspire CX and Nspire CX CAS once Ndless 3.1 is released?

Necroposting because I need to clarify a few things.
I used polydumper yesterday (after installing ndless Cheesy) on my nspire clickpad with OS 3.1.0
W00t! took up a lot of calc memory space, but it dumped the files I wanted.
boot1 was there, boot2 was also there (however the file size was slightly larger than the boot 2 from an OS file, does that mean a real boot2 dump contains some extra stuff?)
I've heard of the diags image but I have little idea what it can be used for.
Then there was the os.img file, which took the longest to dump. What is the os.img used for (in respect to nspire_emu) if you can use .tno files?

Also, I've heard about .bin files, not sure how to get those, how they work and how they can be used for nspire_emu.

Hopefully after clearing this up I get a better general idea of the different files within the nspire Cheesy.

You mean 3.1 right ?

Also, the diags allow you to see some internat things of the calc and their status. As discovered by critor recently, it also allows you to get out of some bugs without having to batttery-reset the calc.

These files are for nspire-emu for example, yes

Um yes! I did mean 3.1.0. Tongue
I tried booting with boot1 but it didn't work properly. And how about the other stuff I said?

Excale made a nice tutorial for using nspire_emu 0.60 on TI-Planet, in French: http://tiplanet.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=15&t=8698 Smiley
Machine translation should do the job; if not, any takers for the translation work ? Wink

And the event mentioned as "As discovered by critor recently, it also allows you to get out of some bugs without having to batttery-reset the calc" by Adriweb is http://tiplanet.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=8945 , again in French. The diags software happens to clear out the SRAM, which fixes some Nspire CX calculators which flat out refuse to boot properly (even calculators on which Ndless has never been installed exhibit the bug...), in a nicer way (especially during exams Cheesy) than carrying a screwdriver around for opening the calculator's back to remove the battery Smiley
