Yeah sadly the music industry works that way. For example notice how many sales Justin Bieber gets, simply because it's mainstream pop/dance music. I would hate to be forced to change my style to something I dislike creating, though. In the past I tried doing stuff closer to existing dance genres and it never worked well or I didn't like the end result.

Yeah man, stick with what you enjoy. Music is nothing if it's made just for money. Music should be made for the love of music (and it's respective genres), If you love techno, make techno music, if you love rock, make rock music. I guess the way you become successful is finding where the audience is that likes your genre, then showcasing it to them

I was finally able to listen to the entire album in one sitting, and I love it Cheesy

I was gonna try reviewing each of the songs more in depth, so I took notes as I listened, but the only things I wrote for any of songs were "yes", "great", "VERY YES", and "YESSSSS"
The "VERY YES" comment was to Xaminaga for remixing one of my other favorite Omnimaga songs, and "YESSSSS" was at The Land of Hopelessness for... well, the entire thing, really

Heh, I purchased the album about half an hour before the new year hits my timezone in order to get the bonus track Tongue (I could theoretically have bought it later, but I wasn't sure that I would have time to do that.) I haven't listened to the downloaded versions of the songs yet, but I listened to them a few times on Bandcamp and they were pretty good!

Oh don't worry josJuice. I must manually remove the track, as there's no pre-set timeframe for availability of tracks. You can even set the release date in the future. So the track could be available until 12:07 AM or so Tongue

Also glad you liked the songs. Cheesy Hopefully I get inspiration to do more soon (I might also post HQ versions of some of my old stuff there too in the future along with zip files of my other stuff attached to it)

Great melodies, I love that ! It reminds me a bit of Genesis, wich is one of my favorite bands (or maybe just the title reminds me of their song "Dancing with the Moonlit Knight").

really? I thought they had a totally different music style? shocked Or do you just mean the title?

Actually the title of the first song is in reference to my song Moon Knight from 2003.  I considered actually making a track called Tales of the Star Knight too at one point, by the way, since there was also a song called Star Knight Cheesy

I'm wondering about the quality of the different file types. The option of Flac sounds very appealing, but I'm wondering how it is converted. Is it directly from the MTVMG program?

I do not know, but I heard it's almost like WAV but with very good compression. I got told it was better than 320k MP3 at least. The downside with FLAC, though, is that very few players support that format, so you usually need to download VLC Media Player or something like that.

And yes those songs are recorded directly from MTVMG and saved in WAV. They got uploaded to Bandcamp, who are offering songs in various formats.

FLAC has lossless compression, so it have the same quality as the original WAVs. (That's why Bandcamp requires your songs to be uploaded in WAV, BTW. They want the best quality so they can offer songs in FLAC, in case users thinking MP3 320 isn't enough buys your album.)

But again, certain people think not providing a CD and a CD pocket isn't enough to buy the album Tongue

Which I think isn't right, because providing CDs is a major PITA for the seller if he starts becoming popular and if he decides to have a company do it for him, they always extort so much money from you that you basically lose money and you have no guarantees they'll not scam you. If they do it for free, then they take like $10-15 off your sale, so you have to charge like $20-25 for the album without shipping fees included. >.< Plus I myself don't like the 3-4 weeks shipping time between  Canada and United States or vice-versa.

As for FLAC, I'M glad they include it since a lot of music stores I saw only provides 128K or 192K MP3s so the quality suffers a lot. The only time you won't see a difference in quality for music I sell is when I decide to sell my older stuff, since I no longer have WAV files for most of the songs.

Necropost:

This lasts until (Black) Friday Nov 23rd 2012, 11:59 PM, GMT-10.

So yeah, I decided to join the Black Friday thing. Tongue The 3 extra bonus tracks are Ancient Kingdom of Omnimaga, Influence from Beyond the Sky and a non-final version of a Final Battle cover.

This only applies to the Bandcamp version of the album!
