Well, I guess that since the Prizm can work with the 9860 SDK and there's lots of community-made SDKs, they won't bother making an official one.

Hmm... I guess if the 9860G SDK can work that can explain it too. It would be nice to have community tools, though, because even on the 83+ TI tools were unreliable and people decided to make their own anyway (WabbitStudio and Doors CS SDK comes to mind)

True. By the way has Casio ever released an SDK for the Algebra FX/Graph 100 series? Back in the days, many people programmed for those. I know they released an SDK for the Classpad series after a lot of pressure from the TI community.

I'm sure Casio has an SDK for their dev team. The question is whether or not they will release it for public use. Even if they do, it may be no better than the 3rd party SDK. I remember TI actually had a SDK for C for the TI-89, and apparently it was severely lacking.

No, AFX addins are just .EXE.
you can compile for afx with turboC with some options and libs.

An official SDK can indeed be useful if it contains features (toolchain capabilities, documentation, functions in header files and libraries, etc.) that third-party open SDKs don't have at the time it is released Smiley

Spoiler for Hidden:
The only significant upside of TI's official SDK for TI-68k calculators, TIFS, is the ability to generate FlashApps for TI-68k calculators. But on the TI-68k series, FlashApps have never been as popular as on the TI-Z80 series, because ASM programs had no significant size restriction.
Its downside are many, for instance (but not limited to)
* C compiler limited to a severely outdated (before C89 !) dialect of C and generating bad code;
* slow and buggy IDE which requires Microsoft proprietary Java (incompatible with Vista and 7);
* slow, highly inaccurate and incomplete emulator;
* headers, library significantly less complete than those of TIGCC (which was released a while before TIFS), and therefore GCC4TI (superset of TIGCC).
The documentation is a mixed bag: it's horrible on low-level aspects, but some high-level functions remain undocumented even in GCC4TI (though it has dozens of functions and variables that TIGCC doesn't have).

Meh. Petitioning for an SDK might have its consequences. It's generally unwise to force their hand. It seems to me that they're more or less just starting to communicate with the community and us coming out of the gates with demands might reflect badly on us. For now we can just put a little bit of pressure on them for an SDK, but nothing to make them want to have nothing to do with us.

Or at least that's how I foresee it happening.

Spoiler for IMPORTANT NEWS!:
Late last night, Quebec was invaded by a group calling themselves, "Omnimaga". Not much is known about these mysterious people except that they all carried calculators of some kind and they all seemed to converge on one house in particular. Experts estimate that the combined power of their fabled calculators is greater than all the worlds super computers put together. The group seems to be holding out in the home of a certain DJ_O, who the Omnimagians claim to be their founder. Such power has put the world at a standstill with everyone waiting to see what the Omnimagians will do...

Wait... This just in, the Omnimagians have sent the UN a list of demands that must be met or else the world will be "submitted to the wrath of Netham45's Lobster Army". Such demands include >9001 crates of peanuts, sacrificial blue lobsters, and a wide assortment of cherry flavored items. With such computing power stored in the hands of such people, we can only hope these demands are met.

In the wake of these events, we can only ask, Why? Why do these people make these demands, what caused them to gather, and what are their future plans...

Agreed: forcing does not ever goes the relations better... :-°

EDIT 03/10/2012
I saw somewhere that the FX os does not belong to Casio...

I think that I found!
See, THe ClassPad's OS belongs to Saltire according to PierrotLL here, and, exploring the AFX, I saw that one executable names "SALTIRE.EXE". So I think that Saltire Owns the AFX's OS, and why not, FX's...
