Well, as a calc it should run just fine.

Why do you need to transfer files to and from the pc? There's not much to do with them once they're there, and there aren't any I'm aware of that you would send to the calc.

Yes to both questions, software downloaded and installed, and all usb devices working great.

You could possibly send this fun calc to critor for analysis...
If you do decide to ship it to critor, he will likely pay the shipping for you, and maybe (tentatively ) give you money for a new one

"Dear Customer,

Thank you for contacting Texas Instruments.

By looking at the provided serial number and the name of your model i can verify that you have a prototype calculator. Unfortunately this means that there's no way of enabling connectivity to transfer files or update the operating system. I'm sorry for the inconvenience and if you should have any further questions, please don't hesitate to contact me again. Thank you and have a nice day!"

I did it!
On XP, the TI-Nspire was recognized as unknown driver, so I just update the calc's driver following these steps.
Now, that linking software posted before is working properly and I'm able to put stuff on and from the calculator.

According to the eBay photo, it's one of the CAS+ prototypes that were massively evaluated in schools in 2006-2007.
I don't need this calculator - it's nothing like rare.

Wrong, connectivity to transfer CAS+ files works perfectly with the software I linked you.
When I say TI-Cares is not accurate and doesn't know what they are speaking of...

Last year, TI-Cares answered that for 80$, they could exchange you the prototype for a production model.
You should ask them about that.

If it's not a CAS+ calculator, there is currently no way, more than 5 years after the CAS+ evaluation.
And it's unlikely that there will be such a possibility in the near future.

Just like critor says, no files can be read by the TI-Nspire, even if they are .tns themselves. It can read files only generated on the calc.
That's pretty bad..

Last year, TI-Cares answered that for 80$, they could exchange you the prototype for a production model.

You serious? I'll give it a try as soon as possible. I'll let you know the answer (but I'm no optimistic).

A solution can probably be found after we've been able to dump the CAS+ Boot1 / Boot2 / OS.

But as far as we could try, the CAS+ seemed to be pretty well protected, and only a harware-dumping method seemed to be possible without knowing more on the OS.

Now that's a good idea. ALso it would be handy for those who got other OSes as well. I remember Lua games made for OS 3.0.1 using third-party tools didn't work on OS 3.0.2 for example and I think some old documents didn't open in newer OSes or vice-versa even if sometimes they didn't use any new feature.

If it can be helpful, i can create a file on the CAS+ and send it to you. so you can handle it. I'm quite new in this kind of things.

TI gave many to shop's and schools to test, and they put them on sale. But TI should have done something so this situation could not be possible.

Yeah the issue was mainly TI trusting teachers and some employees too much and those finally decided to make money off the calcs, fooling people in the process.

Depening upon the school, the CAS+ weren't lent to the teacher, but to the students who could take them home and everything.

I would like to see a CAS+ file, it might be interesting to see what's different. I would think that notes, at the very least, would convert fairly easily. Programs have a good shot too, since AFAIK TI hasn't removed any commands, just added some, and they're probably stored as plain text. Other parts, though, could e completely different. Who knows, maybe they completely redesigned the spreadsheet application.
