So, I was thinking of having some Minecraft Hunger Games matches on Omnimaga. Interested? Post below. I can host them.

I was thinking of just having a Bedrock-enclosed (lowest height to highest, but no ceilings) arena (maybe glass roof), with the spawn outside it. You get tele'd to the inside of the arena, at a "Cornucopia", and the games begin.

Rules:
*No Exiting the arena. Auto-forfeit on breaking this rule. (ie leaving = death in the competition's eyes)

*No Interfering with the "Tributes" while in the competition (for spectators)

*While on the starting platforms by the cornucopia, you must wait for the "Game Master" to declare the start of the competition.

*You may bring one item, or one Item stack in stackables' case. You are NOT allowed to have the following:
-Equipment above Stone
-Nonexistent Items

I'll try to make sure the map can sustain life.

I'm taking suggestions on rules, scheduling, etc.

Spectators are not allowed to discuss the characters' positions or status in chat. (I wish there was some other way, but the players would overhear things.)
cant there be a skype call that spectators could join in and then they could talk there

Oh and also what is the ip

I haven't started it yet. I'll have to get the bukkit set up first.

I was thinking of having scheduled matches.

I'd prefer not to go skype. Players can use it if they want.

I'd be happy to do it and also build some nice traps for the arena. Also, CraftIRC appears to support multiple channels. Perhaps one IRC channel where the players can talk (and have the bot crosspost to the other channel from there) as well as a spectator channel that does not get crossposted back.

That's pretty much it, plus the following:

Make sure people don't break rules.
Set up feasts when appropriate.
Manage games in general.

I was thinking of only having 12-24 people per game. It makes strategy funner, rather than a crap-shoot on whether you live through the first 5 minutes. That means managing people joining shouldn't take too long.

Chat_Proper looks perfect: I can make tributes stay in channel 1 (broadcast all) and yell at anyone else who uses it Tongue they can be in any other channel, but 2-19 hear channel 1. (channels are 1-50)

I have actually been working on a Hunger Games starting arena thingy, and we might be able to use that!  What it is, is an underground series of rooms.  Each tribute goes into one of the rooms and gets into the elevator chamber, they press a button to signify that they are ready, which also locks them in the chamber.  At the master control room, the Gamemaster can see which tributes  have pressed their button, and when they all have been locked in their chambers, he can press a button to raise the elevators.  This raises the players up into the game arena, although they are still locked.  After a countdown, the gamemaster presses a second button, which releases all the players into the arena.  The redstone is pretty complex, and I need to work on it a bit more, but I think it could make our hunger games have a pretty epic start! Builder, that sounds really awesome. We should definitely use it. In fact, we could work on it in the server if you send me the file for it!

Geekboy, is that a server-end mod? I would love to have something like that for the spectators.

Also, this would be pretty cool for game masters to have, for hazards and such, as well as for area creation.
