Question: How does difficulty affect your gameplay experience? (choose 2 that apply)
An insanely difficult game can really ruin my enjoyment
High difficulty is somewhat frustrating, but doesn't put me off
I prefer a good balance - maybe an increase in difficulty as the game progresses
I prefer games that are easy, and / or I only want to play for the story
It's not a true gaming experience unless I lose 999 lives in the process!

There isn't any option for scanning enemies to reveal their weaknesses. It's mostly guesswork; but it is fairly obvious what a given enemy might or might not be weak against. i.e., if you're up against a "Storm Dragon" that's constantly spewing an icy breath on your party, it might occur to you to use fire-elemental attacks. There are some enemies (mainly bosses) that might be a little more difficult to guess with.

A strange man walks up to me in the saloon, when I'm working, and asks me to marry him; and I say, "I cannot marry thee, for I have a love who sails the deep, salt seas; and though he's been gone these seven years, no man shall marry me; for what if he has died, or in some battle slain; or drowned in the deep salt sea; or found another love; and he and his new love both married be? If that is so, I wish them both health and happiness that burns across the sea." He looks at me and kisses me and says, "Weep no more, my own true love, for I am your long-lost love."
