I recently got a used 85 and 86. They both function perfectly, but my 85 seems to have an issue with the LCD. There are four vertical lines of pixels across the screen, shown in the picture.

Is there any way to fix this? Is it permanent? I had an 85 before and I remember it had the same problem, so I'm guessing it's just a problem with the LCD used in the 85.

No, they're only there when it's on. They seem to be normal lines of pixels, too.

I always wondered how to fix such LCD issues. My TI-82 often does that too but with blank lines instead of black (sometimes using it for a long while fixes it, but a few days later, it's back) and my 92 has this happening on a permanent basis too

So it's probably just an aging LCD slowly failing...
Test mode should fix this! (lol j/k, don't try it)

oddly enough, this happened to me with my 82 as well, when I first got it, it had a line of blank pixels, but using it for a while made them go away

Yeah same here. Altough I seem to have to use it for longer and longer periods of time as times goes by to make them vanish, and with my 92, it seems permanent, now.
