Does this mean no more 84+ emulator anymore. Not that TI would make a good emulator for a color screen anyways.

If there are no removable keypads, then yes this would be true. Sad

But we cannot yet completely confirm that the keypads will not be removable.
To be honest, I wouldn't be surprised if TI removed it. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if OS 3.0 for the regular Nspires removed it too. TI stopped distributing the 84+ keypads with new Nspires and last Summer they discontinued the 84+SE in some countries. Maybe they're trying to force people to buy both calcs or want to make sure there are no games possible on the TI-Nspire. However, the design was really flawed anyway: Qazz's calc broke because of constantly swapping keypads.

But OS 3.0 is going to include the 2.56MP 84+ system.
This has allready been announced on TI web site, and reported by TI-Bank.

* fb39ca4 sets his trained attack lobster upon Levak and flees in the ensuing chaos.
Well, those things were what allowed the screen to be so big.

Are there any estimates on what the resolution will be or is it the same as the original nspire. Also is this 16 bit or 24 bit color

Yeah actually that's what it reminded me at first. If my mom ever saw this, she would be like: "Wow, that's one HUGE remote control!"

What is the difference between CAS and regular? For the old one, CAS had a lot more features but was not backwards compatible with TI 84 programs, is this gonna be the same?

I wouldn't be surprised if it was the same, unless the Nspire regular gets rid of 84+ emulation now.

Also I seriously hope the screen will not be like the other. Otherwise I guess games will look like this shocked

CAS includes a computer algebra system.  A CAS is a software (or whatever you choose to call it) that solves inputted equations not like normal calcs (a normal calc would return 5 * X * X as 20, assuming X = 20) but in a algebraic format (first would return 5X^2, then the true value)

Yeah, they don't usually make color Passive LCDs (ones with blur are passive) It would be hard to find color screens that weren't active, or TFT, nowadays. Besides, if it has a backlight too, then I would say it is definitely active.

That's good, then. If they're more rare they would probably not be much cheaper I guess, too. I just remember the LCD of my MP3 player was passive despite having colors and it was kinda weird. X.x

I've got a really old laptop, from like 1995 or so. There are mouse pointer trails even when you disable them. Is that a passive screen?

Likely. Old color screens are passive (DSTN) just like their contemporary monochrome screen cousins. TFT is a more recent technology which enables a much smoother scrolling.
