I heard that it actually might be more powerful than a Wii -- and from a reputable source or two.

So, this DS might actually be good Grin

I tried the 3DS today but I unfortunately didn't have the chance to see its 3D in action. The demo game was Street Fighter by the way. However It seemed pretty cool, although kinda heavy it seems. I will probably wait a bit before buying one because it will be $249.99 over here.

I heard it would be kinda like the Gamecube or Wii power.

5 hours?  That's pretty short.
I heard that the battery life would last fairly long if you played with the 3d effect low or off, though.

Wow. Well... I sure hope it still lets you play while the battery is charging at least. What about in wi-fi mode? I remember in wi-fi mode the PSP drained the battery like there's no tomorrow.

Well the 3DS comes with a cradle to charge it, I imagine you can just plug it in normal And the ones at the store are almost always plugged in all the time.
And im sure they will update firmware to extend battery life, or some website will start selling better batteries. My dad just got the new HTC Thunderbolt and the battery lasts like less than a day. 2 hours on 4g LTE.

Though, I have to admit the number of colors a DS screen can show is a bit... lame.  I think it's like 17 bit.

So, twice that of prizm Tongue

Wow, that reminds me of this

Your DS has almost TWICE the number of colors as my calculator Tongue

18-bit, actually. So 4 times as much Tongue 18 kind of makes sense, that's 6 bits for each of R,G,B

I did notice they are making a remake of star fox 64 for it, not a star fox gamecube game, so I don't think this will quite have the capabilities of a gamecube. It's probably halfway there by now.

They are taking the game and improving it, not a direct port. Same for Ocarina of Time 3D, take a look at that and you can see the improved power (though you can still see some of the n64 game design since they're not really changing the maps)

One thing nice to see is the analog stick. It should make many games a lot easier.

If Nintendo had had me on their team, the first Nintendo DS would have had the analog stick Grin
