That's one of the most innovative things I've seen all year for the calc. This will deserve a news article once released for sure. And with 2 gigs I can fit a lot of songs in there especially if they are at reduced quality.

List of stuff I need to do before September:
1. Finish the Emulator of the Casio Prizm (in active development)
2. Finish the the SH3 asm IDE/assembler/linker program (in active development)
3. Create a partial Java virtual machine for the Prizm (not started)
4. Create Axe for the Prizm with an Axe legacy mode (in planning phase)
5. Develop a large set of C and asm libraries for the Prizm (some progress)
6. Create an emulator of the 83+ for the Prizm (not started)
7. Create a well polished game that showcases the ability of the Casio Prizm (not started)

They are wavs though, so don't expect as much as you'd fit with mp3

calc84maniac is right, they are pretty big files. Pretty Lights by Total Fascination is the only song I have readily converted at the moment, and it is 5.3 MB.

I remember thepenguin saying with his sound player was that he only had so many clock cycles to load each byte of data which made loading from usb difficult. But now that you're probably riding the limit with usb, adding compression would take too much time

Definitely no time for compression. However, there is probably time to display video.

That would be wicked. But how about an equalizer? That would be cool to display.

There already is a sort-of visualization, which you can partially see in the video, which is just a raw stream of the data being played. Although it wouldn't be as cool as watching The Matrix on your calculator.

True, but the file size of the movie would be massive, most likely more than 2gb. Plus how many levels of greyscale would it have to be? Maybe try to implement 7-level gray scale, which has been done with TrueGray (
http://www.ticalc.org/archives/files/fileinfo/341/34172.html ), to display videos.

No, 4 level grayscale videos. They would be run through special software before-hand, and yes, would be massive (though as I said before, experiments with larger flashdrives works fine).

Would 7-level be possible to run at a decent framerate for a video?

Maybe video alone, without audio.

Hum... What about:
1) have two calculators. One with headphones with an audio file for the movie. the other calc with a movie.
2) play both at same time.
3) have your 7-level gray movie, with audio, little lag
4)
5) profit

That would work. For the record, 4 level grayscale video with no audio already works.
