Title: Launching WabbitEmu from a PRIZM
Post by: DJ Omnimaga on January 20, 2011, 01:38:27 am
It seems that Casio added no file format protection on the FX-cg10 calculator. When connected to a computer in USB mass storage device mode, you can send anything you want to it, then open that stuff on your computer from the calculator Flash memory. After disconnecting the calculator, the files remain intact in the calculator memory, even if an error saying that file conversion has failed shows up (in this case, the files are moved to a new folder). Obviously you cannot execute them, but then if you re-connect the device to the computer in mass storage mode, it becomes clear that the files remained intact, as you can open them on your computer from there fine. It just takes a bit to load with large ones.

In the video below, WabbitEmu is launched on the computer directly from the calculator, then a TI-83 Plus Flash APP is loaded into WabbitEmu by dragging it from the Prizm folder.

In other words, this new calculator can be used like a regular USB jumpdrive. Feel free to backup your projects on it. Heck, maybe you could even use portable applications on it? Just remember that sending stuff to this machine takes much longer than on an actual jumpdrive.

This is cool! I might even use a Prizm as storage for my 84+ when I get one... :P

Awesome, it can be used as storage! Now if only Wabbit could run on the Prizm...

A 83+ emu would probably be possible at 29 MHz. A 84+ one would require the calc to be overclocked, though.

2. Like your desktop;
3. Like your whole desk, can I have it?
4. Oooh nice PRIZM as USB device.

Well, in all honesty, developing a device to act as a mass storage device is a lot harder than just saying vendor specific and winging it.
