Jezzball for NSpire
« on: December 07, 2013, 11:17:44 am »
Hey Guys,

I did some work porting the open source game Ice Breaker to the TI-NSpire.  It is basically the game Jezzball.  Though I might keep it the name Ice Breaker because that is what the intro in the game says as well as that is what the original author named it.  Though personally Jezzball has a meaning; if somewhat asks what game I am playing and I respond Jezzball they might know of it.

But it is coming along!  I changed the completion of a level down to 75% because that is what Jezzball has.  I changed the graphic of penguins to balls because when I reduce the size of the graphic the penguins didn't look like anything.

I still have some bugs to look at and I intend on making use of the touchpad to easily move around the board.

The game and all the source is attached.

I hope you like it! :)

What more needs to be said? :)

Edit:
IMO your game presentations need to 'get a new life'.
Why don't you add some action using a video clip instead of static images?

Nice! But as I said there, the clock seems to appear regularly in the center of the screen... seems to be due to sdl (several games using it have the same problem).

Anyway, graphics are beautiful. :)

Hey Guys,

SpiroH: You're right!  Perhaps I'll make the next update with a video! :)

Sorunome & AssemblyBandit: Thank guys.

mdr1: I've noticed that clock too.  It is distracting.  One day if I or somebody else takes a look at it and it is a SDL fix I'll make the binaries again.

Have a great day.

Yeah, we'd like to see that. In addition, you could also show off all your previous games side-by-side on a site like youtube.

Sleep tight. :)

This definitvely looks very great and fun so far :)
In case you are wondering where I went, I am still regularly active in the TI community and am even making new TI-84 Plus CE games. However, I left Omnimaga back in March 2015 for various reasons explained here and there. I might come back one day, depending of certain circumstances, but my new TI community home (despite me being Omnimaga founder in 2001) is now CodeWalrus ( https://codewalr.us ). Sorry for the inconveniences.

Hey Guys,

So I decided to keep the original name IceBreaker as that is the name of the project I was porting over (so nIceBreaker on the calculator).  I fixed some bugs so this one is much better.  The 'p' key now can be used to pause the game.

Here is a video link:
And you can download and play the game to see for yourself.  Let me know what you think! :)

Have a great day!

I wouldn't have been surprised, considering he has started calc programming all the way back in 1997 :P (see his ticalc profile)

@DJ_O: Thanks, that helps to understand a bit more his rather good performance. Actually, I was also very mistaken in thinking he lived on this side of the Atlantic. Oh well, we're all bound to make a lot of misjudgements on this half-blind 'net-business'.
