I think Bleach has been on a hiatus (the dubbed episodes) in america for a few months... The last new episode I saw was when Grimmjow died. Great episode! ;D

Btw when you post, if you want to repost twice in a row I would recommend using the (http://www.omnimaga.org/Themes/omnimaga4/images/english/modify.gif) button to update your previous post, unless there are several hours between both posts (or at least one hour if it's your project topic)

man are you missing alot...
i recommend beginning watching bleach subbed instead... its quality is alot better... and voice acting and jokes are lot better... plus a lot of the dubs are just plain stupid... since they may be quite off and stuff! :)

I personally agree on dubs. for many anime, especially since the '90s, dubs are often horribly translated and poorly done. The DBZ one in fact spawned the 9000 meme thing. My bro watch anime in japaneese, subbed in english, now, because he always found the dubs sucked.

Same goes for some video games too, with voice acting. Star Ocean 2 for the PS1 sounded better in Japaneese than in english.

Bleach isn't the one competing with number of episodes with Naruto?
Anyway what makes it so great? Naruto is definitely for me the characters and humour.

I haven't tried to watch long series. I prefer the normal 24 episodes with 2 or 3 seasons. And my preference is Japanese voices with English subtitles.

Can we please not bash dubs? Many of them are just as good as the original, current topic included. Bleach pretty much has the who's who of english VA's in it. Bleach is pretty good, but I really need to catch up on watching it.

I wasn't bashing on dubs, no need to jump on me like this. I just talked from experience that some dubs were terrible. I did not say all were bad. Don't say every single existing dubs are good either. Let's face it: we can't really say an english dub where they forgot to translate 20% of the words (that aren't even character/location names) is good. I tried watching MCOG in english and from time to time, I could recognize the french words.

Dragon Ball Z isn't any better either in french. Picollo translated to Satan-Little-Heart... wtf?

I was reffering to this post mainly. Some people assume that the original is better and fanboy over it just because it is in japanese and this does bother me. Especially if the said person doesn't even speak japanese. You also have to remember that I am a fan of voice acting as I am an amateur voice actor myself.

well he didn't said all dubs sucked but yeah I understand your point. Just make sure to point it out in a polite way (as said in my PM).

I like bleach and naruto.  I have read the manga up to date, and I am watching the english version right now.  I wish they didn't have to do fillers, ya know?

Also, a few months isn't a necro post, right?

lol idk about whether its necroposting or not but im sure its fine as this subforum isn't that active anyways. i'll take this chance to put in my thoughts
naruto is ok
bleach is not my fav so much...i mean at least in the manga the fighting scenes are too many and not too well done, while the parts in between are actually good but far between

Ya, I like them both too. Haven't seen or read either in a while (well I take that back, I read OneManga for Naruto but I am way ahead of where I am in my collection...:P). Both are quite good I think.

As for the dub/sub debate, both can be very good and both can be very bad. (Unless done by the creators of a show because they should know what is being said.) I'm just saying that not everything is perfect when it comes to translating. (An example of this is how the Bible has been translated many, MANY, times and I doubt one matches the others (whether just a minute change or a very drastic change). Point being, both are good but both can be bad too. Sorry, just my two cents.

As for voice acting, not really the actors fault (unless they are like just bad (like a monotone the whole time)) because they are given the script that was written by someone else.

graphmastur it is fine if the necropost (if it is one, you'll get a red notice that you are trying to reply to an old topic when hitting the reply button) adds something relevant to the discussion. As for voice acting, the worst example of voice acting I can give isn't from an anime, but more the english Playstation version of Star Ocean: The Second Evolution/Story (which only had voice acting inside battles). It was horrible to the point of hilarity, so much that it made people love it even more. :P

One classic being when Rena says "Women Study" when casting magic protection and the boss saying "I'm coming" in a way that sounds NSFW in a few other videos :P

anyways... back on to topic...

according to the latest manga...

Ichigo seems to have lost his sinigami powers all together while it didn't really do much at all...
kinda a was of a literal "final" attack if you ask me...

since that Ulahala guy was taking Izan out eventually with that seal anyways...
another stupid situation caused by lack of communication... :/

what do you guys think upon this topic?
is Izan really out for good?
and does this mean its almost the end of bleach!?

Iit is Urahara and Aizen, btw.  Yes, Aizen is gone for good, IMHO. The only reason why that may not be, is because the Hougyokou (Okay, that might not be spelled right, but I think it is) can change how things should be. So, I guess if it doesn't like being sealed...

On this note, I believe that the manga is going to start winding down.  I think they'll offer Ichigo a captain's position (probably 5), but he will refuse, because he wants to stay with his friends.  Then, Orihime will tell him he needs to become a captain to save him, and then... the end. Just my opinion, though.

As for Naruto, I believe its about to come to the climax, then start winding down.  Which will leave One Piece as the last of the "big 3 mangas", but since I don't read it, I don't know about that one.

@squidgetx
What's up with the bakuman grayscale pic? Its awesome!

kinda necropost but....

what do you guys think about the new chapter this week????

where is kubo taking this...i mean
Spoiler For Spoiler:
ichigo HAS NO soul reaper powers...don't tell me he's getting them back already...
Title: Re: Bleach

Okay, I think it should have ended last chapter, but I'm always happy for it to keep going.  Although, for a two week hiatus, I would have expected a 50 page chapter or something.  But alas, no.

Anyway, for the actual content, I thought it was pretty good explaining where everyone is now, what they are up to, etc.  Then, we see some strange guy and that he loses his badge!!! oh noes!!!  But, after waiting two weeks, it was kinda a let down in a way.  I really liked how he started with the same thing he did in chapter 1.  The only difference being that he cannot see ghosts.  It is sad.

As for where it s going, I'm thinking that he is going to have to re-develop them in a way like Isshin Kurosaki did.  Also, Ichigo's power rivaled Head Captaion Yamamoto's, IMHO.  Personally, I think that to save his friends from some hollow, he will force his powers to come back.  I don't know if he would be able to sense it, or what, but I think that eventually he will get them back.  He might even become a captain in soul society.

I was wondering why orihime doesn't just use her powers to give ichigo his back.
(did that make sense?)
Title: Re: Bleach

Well, her power is rejection of events.   So she could give ichigo his powers back I guess.  But I don't think she can reject non-physical things.  Eg, ichigo's soul. Otherwise, she could reject dead people back to life.

But she did already i think, remember that arrancar that Grimmjow blasted into oblivion?

Still a physical object. I'm sure there is a reason she can't, though.
Title: Re: Bleach
Post by: squidgetx on October 31, 2010, 10:28:37 am
Well they did use the words 'a rejection of phenomena.' ie; she can make a phenomenon, ie an event, so that it never happened :P. idk, that's my take on it though

Yep. After fighting Aizen, he used the final getsuga tenshou.  This made him lose his powers.
Spoiler For Spoiler:
But he's slowly regaining reitsu again!
