I'm sure many people already know about this one, but Microsoft added a little easter egg into paint. If you click the bar directly below 8x when selecting magnification, it will give you 10x zoom.
This isn't really ground breaking, but I figure since I use it every time I make sprites for a game, I might as well share it. It feels way bigger than 8x even though it's really not.

What version of Paint is this? I can't seem to find it on Windows 7.
-
Interesting.... I wonder if this is possible in Windows 7 as Paint is different in it.
-
Windows 7 might kill it. I'm in XP.
-
This brings up what is my biggest complaint with Vista and 7: Too many buttons, not enough menus :P
It might not be possible... I don't even think there's an options menu any more x.x
-
This was under Windows XP. I believe 10x was available through menus, but this easter egg made it much easier to access.
However, I never got able to reproduce that easter egg. It did nothing, for me.
-
Oh, cool. Just tried it out and it worked. It doesn't really help me much anyway, seeing as how I do my sprites in Fireworks, which gives me 64x zoom, which is too much for just about anything. nonetheless, it's a nice little easter egg.

I do all my pixel art in Paint Shop Pro 9. It's just a lot easier for me to work with, as I can use a grid view with a "snap-to-grid" feature. This allows me to, for instance, have a 16x16 grid that auto-snaps the selection tool to a 16 px boundary. As for zooming, I think it goes as high as 5000%. This is really useful for pixel-by-pixel drawing.
I'm not sure what sort of features have been added to Paint since XP, though. Maybe MS decided to implement similar things.

No, I don't think so... I believe the menus stops at 800%.
But yeah, Paint didn't really changed since 3.1 (or even 1.01!) but to update the styles to fit the current version of the OS... But they changed everything with 7 (the ribbon like in MS Office), so it doesn't work there.

Yay easter eggs.
I do all my pixel art on the GIMP, though. Open Source ftw!

I find myself working in 6x magnification or sometimes 8. I use MS Paint for win 7. Personally I don't think I'd ever need a10X zoom(8 seems to be enough). And for reference, I do work in 8x8 sometimes. =)

Ya, it only goes up to 800% on mine (I'm on XP). But that is a pretty neat easter egg that I did not know about :) Thanks.

In the XP version of Paint, hold [Ctrl] when you're clicking a color to get the mysterious third color.

Huh, weird. Is there even a way to use this third color?
I should really freshen up on my random easter eggs :P

Yah. When holding down a mouse button to paint things, hold Ctrl. :P
-
Ah, that would make sense :P
-
I've noticed that one before... Very strange. :P
-
Thanks The Penguin! It works for me (XP) and I know I'll use it someday. :)
-
What third color? Can't find it anywhere...
It's probably just not on Server 2003. There's no zoom palette either, so no easter eggs :(
EDIT: 3 ʘʘ posts!

To be honest, I saw something completely different instead of the smiley face at first.
-
wow o.o
Same here. If you only keep the eyes, they become something else and I am sure Raylin thinks the same thing as me :P
-
I ... don't see it. A sad face (assuming you keep the nose)?
-
The ʘʘ part
It doesn't look like eyes to me and Raylin. Yeah, something more NSFW ;D
-
yeah, basically, you just need a ":)" above the "ʘʘ". >:D
-
Yeah, just noticed what it could be earlier. Maybe I shouldn't have added pupils >:D
-
Don't worryabout it too much. That stuff happens ;D
