Subject says it all. I'm making a webcomic, and would like some help for those interested in being part. Seriously, even my stick figures look like crap. I'm not looking for 0mguberl33t sexy manga skill, but it would be nifty. And almost anything is better than what i would draw myself. Post some examples here, or email me at [email protected].
The webcomic is about PnP (pen and paper) RPG playing friends and the ups and downs of everyday geek life. Love, school, sex, gaming in all its forms, computers, university, IRC, et cetera.
The name of the webcomic is Epic Fail, but its up for debate.
The characters are (with more as needed/wanted):
Patrick McGinty - A 21 year old unemployed hacker with ambitious goals of world domination, but fails to follow through due to laziness and lack of support. Has his fair share of megalomania, and then some.
Unkempt black hair falling to his shoulders, usually tied back. 5'8, not chubby but not skinny either. Wears street clothes with a slight grunge look and a black My Chemical Romance wristband, or one with geeky phrases ( roses are 0xFF0000, violets are 0x0000FF, for example) and on occasion, a black fedora.
Aeris Lacuna - Patrick's girlfriend. 18 years old and barely reaching the 5'0" mark. Her goal in life is to open up her own comic book shop.
Cute, petite, short black hair just below her ears. Wears jeans and tshirts with cute things on them.
Edward Retfirg - Patrick's best friend and culinary genius. In his senior year of high school and manager of a pastry shop.
Tall, lanky, with lots of freckles on his face. Medium length red hair falls over his face and parted in the middle. Wears casual but nice looking clothes without designs.
Dominic Cross - One of Patrick's friends, and psychotic to boot. Works at a factory and spends his paychecks on anime and rulebooks.
Messy short brown hair. Stands about 5'10 and large. Wears baseball style caps with beer brands, bands, and anime characters on it, jeans and tshirts with anime designs.

mhmm interesting, I would like to see how this turns out. Had I got decent drawing skills I would probably be able to help but unfortunately I haven't :(. I made some comics in the past but the quality of drawing was questionable compared to a lot of stuff I seen online (altough at one point I still plan to upload them) but it was about 8 years ago. I have been more into pixel art and even then I have to use character generator softwares to make RPG characters x.x
I think this would be a quite funny story though. If this works out make sure to have a rickroll reference somewhere at one point in the comic :)
-
Yeah that sounds pretty cool. Seems similar to http://www.ctrlaltdel-online.com/ Looking forward to what you come up with. I am by no means a good artist, so I won't be able to help you out with that.
-
Yeah, I love CAD. It was my first foray into webcomics. Shortly after came 8 Bit Theatre, VG Cats, XKCD, LFG, and Chugworth Academy.
-
yeah I like all of those (xcept I haven't heard of LFG...) I'd have to say XKCD is my favorite though. Never knew stick figures could be so funny
-
http://www.lfgcomic.com
Its an RPG webcomic. Its awesome ^_^ Richard kicks ass.
-
i definitely have to check that out
-
Oh, one thing, make sure to make it non-english speaking readers friendly if there are gonna be a lot of jokes, though, especially if there are a lot of jokes not internet/videogame related, because this is one thing that turned me away from XKCD
-
geeky phrases ( roses are 0xFF0000, violets are 0x0000FF, for example)
Very good. :p
We can expect a great site. But I don't think I know enough for making those jokes. Understanding most of them is too much...

Too bad JFish is not around, he would have been able to put some amazing artistic skills together..Good luck bro!
-
Ooh yeah he was amazing at drawing, both on calc and on paper. Of course there would always be Necro, but that would make it a quite gory comic x.x
-
my tablet is broken, i can't help, unfortunately.
-
I'd be up for it, but I really don't have the time for a project like this these days. Good luck :D.
-
I was thinking about updating once or twice a week to allow for busy schedules. Also, thees no way in hell i can write a new comic more often than that.
-
well, if you get it going, it could be more of a collaborative comic using whoever is available on omnimaga. we can sort of take turns, submit new ideas, or even draw, perhaps.
-
Not a bad idea. A community comic. Or, we could have the Omnimaga webcomic! Featuring all the members of Omnimaga as characters, written and drawn by the comunity!
-
Heh as long as I don't have to draw anything, I'm up for it.

I don't think all will like that idea at first.
Online "work" is fun, I participated in some stuff with that idea.

actually bfr was working on a 68k RPG like this, but idk what ever happened to it :(
-
aha! why don't you do a calc sprite web comic. You could include characters from Reuben quest or super mario. All you would have to do is setup the scene on calc and take a screenshot :P It has potential to be really awesome. At least it's an original idea.
-
we will need to have a setting though. it doesn't carry much about it being about a bunch of nerds in front of PCs. at least, not ALL the time.
maybe a fictional setting, with some real life elements. how about a sort of communal Omnimaga house? sort of similar to the setting CTRL-ALT-DELETE had
-
hmm... I could attempt some stuff. Your character descriptions are pretty good.
-
well, i would hope character description come easily to mind, you know, since we all know each other and shit XD
-
@Art_of_camelot: if you are interested, draw up some stuff and send them to me =)
@everyone else: I think we could pull off a communal house Omnimaga webcomic. Or you know, Omnimaga could be a shop of sorts. Like a comic-card-game-rpg shop. I dunno, throwing out ideas.
-
right. owned by DJ_Omnimaga, with a large aquarium on the south wall that houses Netham :)
we should all submit self-portraits of ourselves, to showcase our drawing ability and to also show what we may look like.
-
LOL at the aquarium thing. I guess the lobster thing is gonna be a long lasting joke on Omni :P (like the peanuts did)
About self portraits...
erm, just kidding, Idk about self protrait x.x
-
you WISH you looked that good, omni :P
on a side note, each character should have one visible defining feature to tell the characters apart in any and all art schemes. even stick people.
-
See the character description for Patrick McGinty for me =P
-
I vote for the comic-cards-game shop as the setting. But the real question is not wheere, but what...
-
NecroTopic?
-
NecroTopic?
Well, the post had something to do with the topic, and I don't think anyone's said this project is officially dead, so it *could* be alive (maybe).
-
the funny thing though is that NecroF-_-ckk post saying "NecroTopic?" was actually another necropost XD
-
and now we have a necro's post
-
Lol yeah :P
-
Warning: Epic Necroposting Detected! :P I was just thinking, with all the new members now, maybe some of them might be apt to try this. Cause you know it would be EPIC!!! :D
-
Although unfortunately the original topic poster isn't around anymore :(
-
Yeah, but the idea kind've turned into an Omnimaga based webcomic as the topic progressed instead of his original idea, so that's what I was more talking about...
-
Ah ok, yeah if someone else decides to do one it would be cool
