Here's an old mockup of Kraphyko. The current program doesn't look much like the mockup anymore.
Due to dissatisfaction, I will be inactive on Omnimaga until further notice. (?? THP hasn't been much success and there's also the CE. I might possibly be here for a while.)
If you want to implore me to come back, or otherwise contact me, I can be found on GitHub (bluebear94), Twitter (@melranosF_), Reddit (/u/Fluffy8x), or e-mail (if you know my address). As a last resort, send me a PM on Cemetech (bluebear94) or join Touhou Prono (don't be fooled by the name). I've also enabled notifications for PMs on Omnimaga, but I don't advise using that since I might be banned.

An Axe, ASM or Grammer Metroid would be nice. I made an xLIB one a few years ago but the controls are so unresponsive because TI-BASIC is incredibly slow >.<
In case you are wondering where I went, I left Omni back in 2015 to form CodeWalrus due to various reasons explained back then, but I stopped calc dev in 2016 and am now mostly active on the CW Discord server at https://discord.gg/cuZcfcF

It would be nice if someone managed to make a metroid game for the new 84+ CSE. Color :D

@DJ_O but it wasn't that great of a surprise,was it ? :P

@Keoni29 forget about it. I don't remember who made it, but only filling the entire screen with the same color (and not doing anything else in the loop !) allows for a maximum of 6-7 fps. If a game like that were to be made on the 84+CSE, it would most likely only take half or a quarter of the screen to have a correct speed.

There is (or was, at least) an ASM metroid game that was pretty far along:

tr1p1ea found an old copy of the source a month or two ago:

That was with no tricks, but using the half resolution trick the fps can be doubled, and even quadrupled using DJ_O's trick that only displays on line among two.
I own: 83+ ; 84+SE ; 76.fr ; CX CAS ; Prizm ; 84+CSE
Sorry if I answer with something that seems unrelated, English is not my primary language and I might not have understood well. Sorry if I make English mistakes too.

The problem is that in TI-BASIC, the more crowded your VAT is, the slower/larger your game gets. I noticed my game ran at 4 FPS early into development, only to slow down to 2 FPS near the end as the game increased in amount of sub-programs and size, even though I almost changed nothing in the main program. I had a similar problem with Illusiat 13 as it got bigger. It might have been caused by a TI-OS or ASM lib glitch, though, because I remember that in TI-BASIC, manipulating large strings caused massive memory leaks and slowdowns in some cases.

As for the CSE, it's possible to get a decent speed if you do it right. Just use the built-in horizontal scrolling or half resolution tricks then do the vertical scrolling like Super Mario Bros 2 or Zelda NES. And of course there's always my scanline trick, as Hayleia mentions.

Early concept for our spaceship exploration game. Yep it's inspired by metroid and solar jetman. Not sure if this is the definitive art style though.
