eh...just sprite concepts...forest bg isn't mine though

-
O.O I love these tiles at the bottom, nice work on them. Nice bg too you found, it reminds me FF6
-
hey necro, thing i could compell you to do a favor for me? nothing big, just see if you can make me a substitute sprite for pokemon. it looks like a baby kangaskahn or rhydon
-
Its from fire emblem and I will make my own bg if i decide to do anything more with this. The base tiles need sprucing up as the original size I made them was far to small and simply scaling them up doesn't do them much justice. Further, the two crystals seen are just a few of the neat little pieces of sprite work I have made, mostly for lorn, that would work well in other games to.
-
>_> *is ignored*
lol
-
Well pixel art requests may be better in the actual pixel art sub forum. Altough it might take a while to get an awnser (due to lack of pixel artists here) it will still have less chances of being ignored since it won't be burried among posts of another topic :P
-
that is true. speaking of which, omni, do you intend to archive every topic here? will they get moved to another section mayhaps after a year of inactivity or something?
-
@metagross: I might be able to make one here shortly, but only if my karma is at least 3... ::)
-
if specific projects here goes inactive for that long I usually move them in the general project section, but i won't lock old topics
-
im just being a patsy, i dont like crowded forums.
-
You will have to get used to it the day the old board files are backed up (if a merge works) O.O... there were 55000 posts there. Actually old topics may spark some interest at one point.
-
i figure, but id still like them in maybe an "archive" category not mixed in with the others. an archived topic can be refered to.
-
nope, it's gonna stay this way, as it is on all other TI forums :P. That, of course, excludes all posts made from May 05 to Dec 07 if they get backed up and a merge doesn't work. I personally think all help topics should remain in help section, projects and ideas in projects and idea, news in news, etc. You're gonna have to get used to it as it is almost like this everywhere on the internet and you're the first to whine about this :P
-
kkk, :(
-
Nice concept screen, I like the grayscale one one the right. It has an interesting look (kinda looks like some weird scifi game. Also... please try to stay on topic in threads. Let's not stray to much or thread hijack anyone. :)
-
in that grayscale pic, whats that etchy pattern in the back?
-
http://www.spriters-resource.com/nintendo/pokemon/pkmnrbgy/display.php?file=pkmnrbyattack.png
actually, now that i found it, i think its already small enough to fit. but if you can make a better sprite, then go ahead.
-
well, work continues on 8bit shooter, not much else other than I came up with another velvet engine game concept that I'll put up info for when I have something more substantial.
-
cool, glad you're continuing the shooter. Are you planning to keep it all grayscale or will you add colors to it later? Also I assume the music will be NES style, right? Nitacku might have a music program that might help for that (or maybe if the program has wav samples you could use them in FL Studio)
-
necro, your sig needs fixing :P
-
lol it was an insanely huge sig saying "I wonder how long my sig can be" about 200 times and it took the entire page height so I took it down and replaced his sig with a warning, which he never edited then he requested rep points but still hasn't removed it. I'll go eat him...er... not... I prefer nethams
-
nethams? is that anything like cookies?
-
No, It's more like this;
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TswTenrEwwM&feature=dir (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TswTenrEwwM&feature=dir)
On topic though, I don't remember anything about a shooter. Details plox? What style is it gonna be, Like gradius, glaxian ect?
-
;.;
(oh and yeah it's the first time I think I saw this because you didn't posted about it on the old board)
-
I’ve decided to cut down on some of the original features so as to make it faster to program, so all of the metal parts of the colony seen in the screen shot won't be in the game anymore (at least not in normal levels, might use them in some sort of boss levels). I had originally planned to make the game much like a vertical Gradius with levels scrolling by and a mix of stationary enemy turrets and ships, but I decided making levels that way would be much more complex both to code and to make. If my velvet engine editor was remotely close to being able to handle tiles and large levels and such, it wouldn’t be such a big deal but eh, the game should still be fun.
The way I think levels could work is as follows
1. set timer variable to 0, set length variable for level section in 30ths of a second (30 frames per second)
2. create an array of events to occur at certain times, such as adding an enemy to the level
3. have a conditional statement for what happens when the timer runs out. For instance, should the level not end until all enemies are dead (boss level for instance)
4. at the begining of each step, timer increments and the array is checked for events that should be triggered
5. the timer is then checked against the level "length" to see if the conditional should be checked
-
sounds cool, keep up the good work :)

Well, I have been quite busy with schoolwork so far this quarter. I haven't done much from some music work, a bit of spriting and implementing object dragging in the lorn editor. Maybe I'll get a chance to get ahead on coursework some time, but till then Im afraid things will be very slow for me.
-
I hope you get less work towards the end because with exams it can be quite hard x.x
-
Actualy, two of my classes are all based on homework...
also, some tiles...
-
do you mean you just do homework or you only get scores on homework and no exams? College is a bit like that over here
And nice tiles :D
-
It completely depends on the class, of which those in the multimedia department are strange...
Programming, math, humanities, soc, etc are all tested.
-
aah ok, kinda like here, altough multimedia classes were mostly projects. And if you had no computer at home with the softwares they have at college then your studies were doomed to failure from the start
-
I don't know what is the equivalent course to mine but is like a general Science/Math/Technologies course.
I don't have time for code except some math classes to do a quick math program. And playing is out of question.
But I have plenty free time sometimes...
Those images are good but many of the tiles remember certain games...
-
? I made all of the tiles there
-
he did them. It's probably because it's inspired from some games and the fact that it's hard to make textured grass and earth in 16x16 and limited colors when there's about 2000 grass/earth tiles alerady in games and online. Heck, even Super Star Hero grass looks similar to every other grass tiles
-
Nice tiles, the grass looks really nice!
Yeah college gets in the way of my programming time >.<
-
The tiles look great. For me, boring lectures in my programming and English classes have given me a reason to learn to compile Asm by hand :D
-

...I think this may be the first slime hentai dating sim...
j/k
-
Wow, great tiles! You going to just tease us over and over? XD
-
maybe
-
Slime...hentai...dating sim? Dear god.
Nice work here. You always impress me with the quality of your work. Keep it up =D
-
The tiles look great ;D and I just made the new forum's 5000th post :P

-
why not a slime hentai dating sim...the passion, the romance, the intrigue...
anyways, its was an attempt at making autotiles and while it works you can't do anything other than walk around right now and collide into walls.
-
What's an autotile?
-
An autotile is an object that change its tile image based on whats around it. All of the walls use the same autotile, which show diffrent tiles based on adjacent tiles.
-
RPG Maker has autotile feature, they can be very handy and save you time, however sometimes they can cause trouble. it depend of where you want to use them and how they are implemented
-
Well. so far the character and the slimes move and you can go to diffrent rooms.
-
nice :)
-
they look nice, pretty futuristic style :)
-
Looking pretty snazzy! Good luck next week!
-
wow awesome, I wonder if this could be resized down to fit on calc, some tiles look like it could be awesome as a calc game if smaller
-
Nice tiles ;D Though why are they in grayscale?
-
cause the game will be all grayscale
-
(http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v491/bbensonpck/8BitDungeons_03.png)
-
wow awesome again, keep up the good work, necro :)
I do hope to see some progress on your games too like Lorn :)
-
(http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v491/bbensonpck/8BitDungeons_04.gif)
timing is off, but imagine the water moving slower.
-
WOW, that is just stunning! I love it, and man this is just awesome!
-
wow i love those trees, i wonder how easy that stuff would be to convert to color, it might be useful for a rpg maker game or something
-
(http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v491/bbensonpck/8BitDungeons_05.png)
the rain and ripples in the water are realy hard to see without animation, but I added depth sorting so objects can be in front of eachother now properly
-
interesting, I am curious how it woudl turn out in a game :)
-
Well, regarding my project, Necro's GUI Library, I've made some further progress in adding code to clean up the engine so that when you close the engine, it will remove all engine objects and clear out all engine resources. I need to handle a null refrence error that will occur if you try to close the engine twice, as the engine only currently creates certain resources when they aren't found to already exist, and gml doesn't allow these partiular variables to be deleted so I will need to set them to a null values. I was thinking that when I put up a new demo for nguil that I might include some other project demos in it, thought that may be a bit from now still.
-
cool to see new progress ^^
-
Nice, I definitely love your GUIs. Show this would be a breath of fresh air ;)
-
Well, I am working on a parsing script to let multi-lined text input be done, and so far it works somewhat though the last line or so...well, it doesn't work there yet. Hopefully, progress will be fast on this component as I still need to transfer and clean up a number of older components and add surfaces to a number of them now that I have scroller bars and such.
-
nice to see new progress. Btw don't forget to do backups on a jumpdrive or something in case x.x
-
Well, I got a new snazzier slider bar routine and the text parser seems to work (though bugs may lurk in that routine somewhere). other than that, I am still working on hw...
-
screeniez ^.^

j/k
Oooh would there be tentacles involved to? O_o LoL. Seriously though, those tiles look really great. I could definetly seem something like this being used in a calc game as well.
-
(http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v491/bbensonpck/ballGame00.png)
I think this game is looking good
-
nice, the tiles looks quite small on this one though O.O, altough it's not a bad thing really
-
Nice necro :) I see you added some color too.
-
16X16 tiles aren't that small. Moreover, when all of the effects can be seen with all of their motion its pretty spiffy, though those auto tile still need some work.
-
yeah true, the only place where it would be small is for people using 15 inch monitors with a 1280x1024 resolution :P
Plus you can add more tiles in one screen ^^
-
well, I can always just have an option to scale them up 1.5 or 2 times
-
Beautiful, but small. Hope you add the option to scale it ;P
-
(http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v491/bbensonpck/techDemo00Aug2709.png)
just a little toying around
-
nice, that makes me want to see a new freeware RTS game
-
(http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v491/bbensonpck/techDemo01Aug2909.png)
-
Nice this is better :)
You should really try making a strategy game or something :)
as long as if you do so, you finish Lorn/Combat Ball (which I've been waiting for 4 years -.-) first, tho :P
-
wow that is looking good, good job necro
-
all of these effects are transferable
-
that still looks kinda cool, tho
-
Well, it looks like my capstone class will be eating into my time quite a bit this quarter...hopefully I'll be able to finish a few things at school like the zelda 8X8 example.
-
I hope you stick around x.x and still get some time from time to time x.x
-
Well, I am still working on my class stuff a lot...we were basically put into groups and assigned a system to build for a fictional company. Since I am doing the app portion of the assignment, I've plugging away both designing and programming all of the forms, objects, etc from scratch in vb 2008. The class is neat since I've learned a lot, but it is very time consuming.
So if anyone wanted help with some scripts or such in vb, now would be the time to ask since thats what I working on a lot right now.
-
I would probably be able to help if it wasn't for the fact I only programmed VB6 and last time I did (I only used some rudimentary stuff, as it was only an intro class) It was 6 years ago
I am confused though. Do you mean you are currently converting your Game Maker stuff to VB or are you just talking about school work?
-
Just my school work, though I'll probably be converting from game maker to .net/XNA at some point since its better for this sort of stuff. Gamemaker just lacks a lot like collections, fully overloading functions, etc.
-
Yeah it would be nice, plus I think you can sell your stuff on Xbox 360 too, altough what sucks is that it costs like $100 to subscribe to XNA on Xbox live, while developping for PC is free
-
Well, the quarter has a few weeks left but I hope to back to working on various projects soon.
-
I can't wait for more updates :P

I can't wait for more updates :P
Waiting for updates of necro. :P

They seem irresistible to include in some RPG. It will be fun to add animation...
One of the things, I want to do is weapons sprites to put on characters during battles.
-
these looks great ^^
-
They were for space station theta way back when three fingered guy was working on that remake, but it never happened. Then he decided to become a jerk. I think they would look nice in a desolate 2, but meh. If anyone wants to use em in a game, I just request credit.
-
Yeah I remember, I hate when people change for the worst x.x, plus I kinda wish SSP2 came out
-
Those look really, really nice.

they look amazing how can you possibly resist i would create a new game just for those weapons if i could
