For my hybrid BASIC Pokemon game, Pokemon TI, I need some custom spriting help.
I would like battle sprites for a female character I'm adding to the game who is based off Green from the Pokemon Special manga.
Essentially, I need Green facing away from the screen (back sprite) and her front sprite.
These need to be in 4 lvl greyscale.
For reference I've attached the standard male trainer's front and back sprites, as well as a custom Green sprite I found online (I can't use it because it was made for the Gameboy Advance).
For the front sprite, the maximum dimensions are 32x56; while for the back sprite the max dimensions are 32x32, though I would prefer the dimensions be closer to 28x28 so they're like the male trainer's.

Hmmm, I can't really look right now but if anyone found one of the old Lass sprites from Blue, Red, Green, or Yellow (maybe?) that could work.
-
That could work, as long as the final modded version doesn't look to much like he base sprite.

I'll see if i can give them a try in the next few days.
-
Thanks! :)
-
I guess I can give this a try when I get some free time. I'll try to keep it at 28x28 for the back sprite. Do you want her with or without her hat?
EDIT: Here's her back sprite with her hat at 28x28.
EDIT2: Here's the front sprite with her hat at 32x56
-
Those look good, though would it be possible to make her without the hat?
-
Yeah, I'll look around for a reference to use for the top of her hair. Is the outfit for her fine?
-
The outfit is fine.
Possible reference?

To prevent any confusion with my earlier post, in the Japanese version of the manga, she is called Blue, but in the English version, she is named Green.
-
Both of you, those are excellent! Nice job! ;D
-
nice job!

Ah, alright, thanks. That would explain the mixed results. I just got back from a run, so I'm going to relax a bit, then I'll get to it.
EDIT: Okay, I'm back. Her hair is really, eh, poofy.
So what do you think?
EDIT2: Added a little more poof to the back sprites.
-
Nice again ^^
They converts pretty well
-
Wow, that's excellent! I really like it! Nice job. :D
-
Awesome! ;D
I'll definitely use these.
This might even inspire me into getting out a new intro screenie soon.
Btw, I still need two more names for her in game character (besides Green!).
-
Amy
(Yes, Eeems' Amy... ;D )
-
Um, how about Leaf?
Amy
(Yes, Eeems' Amy... ;D )
I don't know why but that name popped into my head when thinking. Weird.
-
Tada!!!!
-
Amy
You know what they say, if you seek Amy...
-
Lol Ztrumpet nice idea ;D
And Finale TI, darn that looks great :D, almost like the real Pokémon
Btw were you planning to make an entire Pokémon clone or a spinoff/different version?
-
Glad to see my work in use. Looks pretty good on calc.
-
I know in the real pokemon, May is the one of the main character's names. These sprites look awesome! Good luck with the rest of the game finale

@DJ:
I was planning to make a full port of Pokemon Red or Blue, with some minor additions or changes. One idea I had was were the invisible PC is in the Celadon apartments, I would have a table with a TI-84, which could be used to access the PC system.
@player:
Darn you!
-
Aaaah ok. Just remember this is a very huge project, though. Tifreak8x have been working on Pokémon Purple since September 2005. And there are already 3 other full Pokémon port projects so you will have fierce competition if you don't add anything new to the game or don't make a spinoff/different Pokémon game. That said I am looking forward for progress :)

Current title screen mock-ups:

Nice!
I like it!
-
Wow pretty good!
Btw for this game are you planning to use BASIC+xLIB/Celtic III or will you be using BASIC+xLIB/CelticIII+Axe?
-
Those look great! I'm glad I kept that banner in my sig. ;D
-
Thanks!
@DJ:
I'm currently only using BASIC and Celtic III, though if the need arises, I will write an Axe program. (Seriously considering doing this for text routines, though, cuz in BASIC they're just so stupid! >:()
-
Aaah ok ^^
And yeah I tried writing text display routines in BASIC before (see The Reign Of Legends 4 menu engine and ROL3) and usually they were slow :( )
-
It's about time I gave this thread a bump.
I would like overworld sprites for Green (see above if you don't remember ;D).
Below is the full sprite sheet for the male player.
They are 3 lvl grey (because one level is used for transparency).
-
Are you simply planning to use the same sprites as the original or are you looking for brand new sprites? In the first case, I wonder if Buckeye would be willing to share the sprite data he uses for Red? :P
-
I'm looking for sprites for Green, which would be brand new. Red's sprites would be the ones above.
-
Well, I couldn't finish all of them with the free time I had available, because I spent a ridiculous amount of time trying to get the hair looking somewhat decent. I was going to make a few more, but after realizing that I was supposed to make them symmetrical (so that you can flip the sprites, looking at your sheet for Red) that kinda put me off on doing them. Anyways, here's what I ended up with. Feel free to use this as a base of sorts for the other sprites, or I guess wait until I get around to doing the rest (These are asymmetrical btw).
-
Oh ok you want to use Pokémon Green sprites. I wonder if they'll convert well. It would rule if they did :O
Also nice Magic Banana!
-
Those look fantastic, but unfortunately the style seems inconsistent with the other sprites in the game.
I would use them, but it would look kind of weird if the player was more detailed and GBA-esque than all the other people.
Below is another possible reference point. Thanks.
-
Wow, those look great Magic Banana! It's too bad they don't fit. :(
-
Well, it's good that I hear this now instead of making all of the sprites to find out they can't be used. I actually didn't think about making the sprites in the same consistent style as the rest of the game this time around. Not sure why... ??? I guess it just goes to show you spriting at 3 in the morning ain't the best thing to be doing at that time. :P
EDIT:Ok, I went off of those sprites you posted as a base and it turned out nice. I tried not to do too much with the hair, but I just can't seem to get it the way I want to.
-
Awesome! Would it be possible for you to do her riding the bike?
-
Of course, I just wanted to see if you liked how they turned out. I will actually have some more free time later today (about 4-5 hours from now), so after class I can get on it.
-
Nice! Great job! ;D
-
Those look great! Great job Magic Banana!
-
Wow, had a few minutes before class and I cranked these out fast. I used the same bike as Red for consistancy, which made the rest easy stuff. Have fun! ;D
-
Awesome! I'm trying to get the player's room map converted, then I'll throw in the player sprites and give it a whirl.
-
Pretty nice!
-
yes, that is definitely some fine spritage
