this was done on the computer with a piece of software known as Serif Draw Plus.

you can use em as long as you credit them, and if you would like some based of a set ask and you might recieve (though I take fewwer request as the games rarely pan out, so I want to see a promising beta first)

 not free :(. I have access to CADkey, photoshop and 3d studio max through the school, all of which are good.

at home I have the GiMP and Blender (for 3d stuff).

mostly I just use GiMP and Cadkey though.

I could never get Gimp to work for me, so I stuck with this classic.
I wish I didn't have to do those smooth transitions manually though. :(

I'm not much of an artist myself calc wise. I did a lot of CS sprays for [SmD] Members and do a lot of the grayscaling that you see in my grayscale demos but thats about it.

Hiryu on the other hand does most of the artwork for a lot of the games he and I made. There's a ton of Legend of Landel samples at http://fryedsoft.calc.org/rants/reasons.htm Also Keep in mind that these are old and there's a lot more now. http://hiryu.calc.org has some more pics of games. http://www.geocities.com/hiryu_rhys/ has a ton of old stuff too, but a lot of the links are outdated since geocities changed their layout. if you remove the ~ in the links on the site they should work. This is one of his old pictures of Sephiroth he drew back in 97 from the geocities site...

He also made the picture used in my sig. Although I grayscaled it using a method I'm testing right now.

Yeah. Me and a couple of friends tried to get Hiryu to draw a webcomic. still no luck there.

He had a paper comic somewhere that had something to do with Mystic Legend a few years back. haven't seen it for years now. That one would probably be more frendly than most of the punisher stuff.

Here's an actual pic from the punisher comic that I can show you guys. Keep in mind this is circa 1993-4 and wasn't even drawn that well for his skill back then. He draws a lot better than this now. Also, this is everyone in the game. The guy with the Shades is Image before he got the impact suit. You can compare them to what they look like now from my sig picture.

Thanks, it is one of my favorite subjects to work with, and  I recently got myself one of those 6x8 Wacom Graphics Tablets so I am currently working on a piece dedicated to the new Nintendo Wii console.

I made it with a scanned drawling of mine, and gimp (freeware: http://www.gimp.org).

Here is a little something i am making in blender while the parentals are not averted in their attentions.

photo shop is the only one that comes to mind, but it cost money.  Those are the only ones I know of.

i think freeware wise gimp is the best, but not the easiest to use. Photofiltre is like a super enhanced MS Paint

I use PS, but gimp is really nice. I just didn't feel like getting used to gimp, and stuck with PS XD...

@Necro: Looks really nice so far (both of them), I am pretty sure it will turn out great and I would love to see both versions (forum one + the other).

I use MS Paint pretty much all of my stuff, i just use Gimp for the animations.

anyway, back the art at hand. These are my toys... i especially love my DS Lite :love:

um...so as not to invoke a level 99 rulez monkey of +2 magic missle, if there are sketches of female nude but they lack any...erm...parts of distraught to people prude (top and bottom)...would it be against the rules?

@ killer: I wish I could draw consistant decent 3/4 veiws well...if you want to get better, you have to either draw a lot to build up your right-brain and fine hand motor cordination or just have massive inate skill (sadly, necro lacks the latter.)  I would bet you if you spent 30 minutes a day drawling, in a month you would see improvements.

 i would recommend to not post that kind of stuff on the board or IRC, while this may not violate the rules litterally most ppl here are under 18 and either they wouldnt like or they could get in trouble if their parents or teacher saw them browsing those

I made it in gimp using the fade out on my brushes for the trees and the rest was combination of the galaxy small brush (like a spray can effect) and the normal blurred profile brushes, then I color ramped it from this

it was two layers (one for the sky, one for everything else)



I think I will try to make one of these every few days...

Umm... yah it looks like vista but its not. The first is Windows XP Pro running custom skin, theme (that I made by combining, editing various other ones). The second is Windows Media Center w. skins and themes as my XP Pro.

You can use a variety of programs. Some are tclock2, glass2k, boostxp, tweakxp pro (works well).
I use Windowblinds (I consider it to be the pro suite for pimping your comp :)

BTW: if you have an Nvidia graphics card, I think there is a setting that allows you to make windows transparent if you hold (as in drag) them. But I don't think this works for taskbars.
