Title: Some animals and a car request.

first, these are monochrome 8x16 (8 pixels high, 16 wide) sprites with a side-view facing to the right.
second, i'm only going to use one of these, whichever one looks best. if you're going to make one, please don't spend your time making 5 average sprites. perfect one of them, as i'll only pick one (or perfect all of them, if you want). lastly, if you can make a cycle for movement (preferably with it running), that would make my day (:

- ram/mountain goat. (make it 16x16 pixels if 8x16 isn't enough room)
- hare/bunny
-  kangaroo rat (http://images.stanzapub.com/readers/2009/09/04/0000000000_7.jpeg)
- sports car.
- unicorn! (make it 16x16 pixels if 8x16 isn't enough room)



tl;dr:
8x16 monochrome sideview to the right. pick one, perfect it. give it a run cycle for extra points.

forgot to mention: animated sprites should have 3-4 frames. please avoid greater than four, unless it's absolutely necessary and looks spectacular. that looks nice yunhua, thanks (:

Well, with the legs and horns/ears, the rest were near immpossible in 16x8.

yunhua, how many more pixels high would the sprites need to be to make an adequate unicorn? i'm especially interested in the unicorn, or the ram. can you specify some dimensions? 8x16 are simply preferred.

probably 16x16, but no less than 12(height) by 16

well. i guess i'm opening the unicorn and ram to 16x16. since the game is mainly speed, i would prefer 8x16 so i only have to draw 2 sprites. but i could try it with four.

the unicorn is the main one i want, too (: though currently i have the engine set up for the car (a car and a unicorn do not jump the same way.) if you want, you could make jumping sprites. just one position for ascending, and one for descending would be fine.

I couldn't get fluid movement for the unicorn within 4 frames, so I added one more. Now on to the jumping animation.  ;D

EDIT:Slowed down the gif a bit.

Well, I tried to get it to look like this, but I just couldn't get all the detail into it.  :-\

Well, if you want a Robot Unicorn, I'm gonna need to use a little gray here and there. ;)
Also, It would be amazing to make after Quigibo releases his .wav to Axe converter.

And Robot Unicorn Attack for TI calcs would be freakin awesome, complete with the catchy music :D

Omg, that is the funniest stupidest game I've ever played. lol. The only reason I don't think I'll make it now is because I don't think that people would actually play it more that 5 times.

But if I'm ever bored... There'll be an 8 level gray scale robot unicorn attack.

Nah, it's for school, The secret project's on hold until the Complete Guide to an Effective Axe is released.  It was an idea I ditched until I saw the thread on the Guide.

well since i figure i'm going to need a lot of speed to correctly make the game, i'm not going to do grayscale. i'll just have to throw in a different prefix before unicorn attack (: and music's a no, because i really don't care about music from my calc when i can get it fine from elsewhere.

well it was a bit tough to manage in mono, but here is a kangaroo rat of sorts
those could also be used for jumping, i guess, since all they ever do is jump :P

oh, and penguin if you made that i would have to find a way to sneak my headphones out in class

Probably wouldn't have music though. But I would try to do the parallax scrolling in the background at least.

That game get's really fast, at 40,000 you don't even touch the ground anymore.

As easter egg, as reference to Illusiat 13, you could have the title screen change to Robot Uniporn Attack after a particular key combination, too :P

Yunhua aaah ok, I hope you have time to finish the Axe project and personally I wouldn't rely on the guide to Axe, because SirCmpwn has no stable internet access, so it could take up to a year before he releases it, if he still even plans to make a guide at all.

wouldn't that stop it from being uploaded to ticalc?  I guess you could leave that version on Omni with a NSFW tag and use one without the easter egg for ticalc?

Yeah, I noticed SirCmpwn hasn't been on for a while.  In that case I'll probably wait til school starts because I like computers better than calcs and calcs are for times when comps aren't accessible.  (Like math class)

Yeah true x.x, just having that in the title might cause issues. If it was a RPG or if he was Omnimaga staff, then it wouldn't be that much of an issue since he could simply upload it in Omnimaga archives, but otherwise, it will end up in the project showcase among 200-300 other topics, attached to a post somewhere x.x. I guess he could still make a ticalc-friendly version and a special omni version, though.

And sorry to hear you don't like calcs that much. I don't really understand, though, why ppl only care about calc programming while in class then during summer, it's over. That stuff is rather depressing to read :/ *sighs*

This is not to mention Omni is blocked at SirCmpwn's school anyway, so he will have even less access time when school resumes. Also, if you wait until school restarts before doing calc stuff again, then you only have 15 days left to finish your Axe contest entry. If everyone kept the same mentality over here, we would get no Axe entry for the contest. A contest with no entry would be so awesome! </sarcasm>

I'm talking full screen 8 level grayscale title, detailed ground and enemies, and full screen background parallax. The title + background are already 7k.

But it would be epic...

hahaha, that'd be so cool if you did it. mine's going for gameplay, where the graphics are pretty simple. you run on a line that can have a +1 slope, -1 slope, or no slope. and then of course there's some blank spaces so you have to jump etc.

So you're making something similar?

Btw, grayscale only takes up about 50% of processor time regardless of the current speed setting. So I'd still have 7.5 Mhz to do gameplay.

Oh, actually the secret Axe project isn't isn't for the Axe contest, I'm just planning something in it that's something a lot harder than I can do alone. (I have two friends at my school who are very interested in calc programming, one of which I met at a Music and Math Summer camp last week and I know is still interested.)  The Bomberman program (for the Axe contest) on the other hand, I'm still coding.

yeah i am. it's originally why i requested the sprites. mine isn't going to be very graphically detailed, in hopes that it'll run at a decent speed on 6 Mhz calculators.

hehe, for some reasons, that reminds me my grayscale number guessing game ;D, except of course a Robot Unicorn Attack game would be much more entertaining :P

It also reminds me a bit xLIB xLIB Revolution. I should really make an Axe Axe revolution... it would make the data MUCH smaller (in XXR, each arrow were 9 bytes of data, meaning levels could be up to 9801 bytes large each).

Oh,  I meant the Bomberman game. I was scared you stopped working on it until Sept 1st (where everyone will most likely have resumed school) x.x
