Title: Super Meat Boy for the Calc (possible?)
Post by: Billeekid on September 22, 2011, 02:38:51 pm
This is more of a thought than an ambition.  Wouldn't it be possible to make a Super Meat Boy for the calc with reasonable success?  Obviously sprites and tilesets would have to be significantly less detailed for most calcs.  I just thought it sounded like a fun idea maybe someone could turn into a project. Maybe it could be done with some of the physics based coding tools I've seen on here.  Meat Boy already is a cube so it wouldn't be to hard to just make him a square, atleast I wouldn't really care how detailed he'd be.  I just got to thinking that maybe you could replicate a game where you're able to sprint, jump off walls, and control your character mid flight.  Those features are a great combo.

Which calc? 84, 83, nspire, CX, or Prizm?
I hope it will be 84 though

You could definitely use Zedd to better replicate SMB's acceleration and physics
And yeah, I think if you made level packs (each world) into appvars, the entire game might be able to fit on a TI84+

(actual gameplay at ~24 secs)

Seems pretty interesting..some parts of it might not be possible (like the parts when ~50 clones spawn etc) but it should be doable :)

I tried making it a while ago but quickly gave up. The project is called The Slime if you want any of that source (although you probaly dont :P)

it looks like the RAM itself to me. it's an easy problem to fix.

It's loading the stuff outside the tilemap.  If it weren't for the solid border you'd prolly be able to jump all around the calc's RAM :P

I actually was making a game based off that concept, but I couldn't get the reading to work right... :\
