Mhmm that looks nice, what would it be for?
-
OMG! Earthbound maybe?
-
Mhmm that would actually be cool
Drak Dragon had a game similar to Earthbound in the works a year ago, but he lost all his progress in a RAM clear (due to defective calc) and he gave up on it :/
-
A teaser.
The first thing I thought was it looks just like Netham. (true)
But it does not resemble for me any game. I never played Earthbound.
The sprite looks good, but most important than one outstanding sprite, I think, is how all the sprites will appear together and blend beautifully with each others. Make good use of the sprite.
-
Speaking of which...
Is 24x16 a decent size?
EDIT: No name walking sprites done.
-
16x24 seems good to me. Just make sure to make building doors around the same size so it won't look like characters won't fit in buildings, like I saw before in a RPG
-
Nobody here plays Super Smash Bros Brawl? :O I recognized that was Lucas right away :P
-
I don't. I don't like fighting games. I bet not a lot might play due to Omnimaga RPG roots and people being more into RPGs in the process.
-
I saw that and thought Earthbound too. Hmm... ;D
-
You guys thought Lucas? I didn't think he was true to form so, I gave him a different name.
Did I also tell you that I finished the base sprite sheet?
-
O.O
EPIC!
-
But it does not resemble for me any game. I never played Earthbound.
DO IT. It wasn't popular in America when it came out, but nowadays it's one of the most famous RPGs. (And the only RPG I've touched...I have not played even Zelda) So popular, in fact, that when Earthbound 2 was released only in Japan, a team got together to hack and translate it, to the many thanks of people in America.
-
Raylin, that's epic! I can't wait to see what you're planning. :D
-
Thanks! :D
Also, are there any other sprites I need to have?
I'm basically keeping the sprite sheet functional.
No cutscene-only sprites are there.
Here it is so far.
-
Pretty nice so far.
-
Why thank you, good sir.
-
That sprite sheet looks amazing! Can't wait to see what comes out.

I haven't played it...for some weird reason. I want to. I played the original and thought this was Nes at first.

Aw, but that is what makes RPGs so much fun (the size unrealisms :P).
-
History: Nes is the main character from Mother 2 (Earthbound)released on the SNES. Lucas is the main character from Mother 3 released on GBA. Mother 3 is easily one of my favorite RPG's of all time possibly even surpassing Chrono Trigger, and Chrono Trigger was freakin awesome. Is this for your contest entry? I can't imagine trying to remake Mother 3 in Axe, as it'd be MASSIVE. Your Lucas sprites look really good so far too, although I am unsure what the original dimensions were. So many questions... What are you planning indeed?
-
Wasn't there an Earthbound 64 project that got cancelled? I was so looking forward for that game and it never came out over here.
I doubt he is remaking Mother 3 though. Most likely a calc clone of one of the games, since it would indeed get massive

Mockups.
I ripped out the shadow on the second mockup.
EDIT: Remade the shadow in the second one. Shrunk the textbox down to two lines.
-
That...
looks...
awesome!!!
Really nice work. I can't wait to see what this will be. ;D
-
Changed a few things.
-
I really like that shadow in the second one better, looks more realistic. Great work on this, still can't wait ;D
-
Looks nice, and same as meishe for me for the shadow.
-
T h e S u s p e n s e i s k i l l i n g m e . . .
2nd mockup looks much better.
-
Looks great so far Raylin. For the sprite sheet, if you have diagonal movement you can make sprites for that. You can also make a sitting/laying down sprite. Maybe even a 'stick arm out' sprite if he interacts with the environment. Keep up the great work ;D
-
I would go with 2nd one, but use the top menu from the first
-
@DJ: They're both going to be use. But, it's like this.
The first mockup screen will appear and because it's your turn, Noah will pop out.
Then, when you select your command, Noah disappears and the text box will pop up.
And so on and so forth.
-
Aaah ok I see now. Seems good
