Title: Zelda Sprites Request 2.0
Post by: ACagliano on June 06, 2014, 12:44:49 pm
So, I'm rebooting my Legend of Zelda game and am, once again looking for kind souls to assist with sprites while I work on as much of the game as I can. Whoever would be interested in helping can comment this post and I'll inbox you the link to the repo on Bitbucket, where the sprite list is located.

Well, I suck at spriting but I'm sure there are pixel artists out there ready to help out. It'd be really awesome if you bring this to a completed state.

I have a lot of good ideas for this game. While I could complete it alone, it would take a long time, especially since I'd need to learn graphics rendering, AI, bullet code, and how to do that anti-aliasing stuff. If I can get spriters (and even a mapper, if I'm lucky), that eliminates that. Then I may have a look at the code for another RPG's rendering system to get some ideas...

I'm assuming that you're using 8x8, Link's Awakening-style graphics. If not, disregard this post entirely.

I would suggest grabbing as much as you can from this thread (http://www.omnimaga.org/pixel-art-and-drawing/zelda-8x8/), or any similar threads you can find, and filling in anything left with placeholder graphics. That should allow you to get pretty far in development before needing to come back and spend more time on the graphics.

Yeah I agree with Runer112. That thread already have many sprites available for use. Also wasn't there an entire 8x8 Zelda LA spritesheet by Runer112 there or in another thread (or at least, whatever he used for his entire overworld map of LA? Another thing you might want to check out is Eiyeron stuff.

Otherwise you might need to ask on a non-calc forum entirely dedicated to pixel art since most people tend to be too busy to do personal pixel art requests anymore.

I just gave it a try.

I've made an 8*8 sprite for that monster that spews rocks at you (I believe it's called an octroc) in monochrome, and 3 and 4 shade greyscale.
You can find pretty much all sprites from Zelda games on google images, and then just use your favorite layer-supporting image editing program, copy-paste your reference pick and overlay it with a layer you use for your pixel art. That way, you can make sprites relatively quickly.

This is my attempt: (monochrome, 3 shades, 4 shades and reference respectively)

"Eiyeron stuff"  :3
Yeah you should start with Runer and if you need some I could try to port some from other Zelda GB games.

(I should repair my paint room, the migration broke the links )
