Title: Do interrupts lose the game with low batteries?
Post by: DJ Omnimaga on September 01, 2010, 08:39:45 pm
A while ago, I think I saw something implying that interrupts run slower when your batteries are low. Is it true? Also, if it's true, is the speed difference considerable?

Only on the 83+. For the 83+SE, 84+, and 84+SE, they are based on the crystal timers, which function correctly regardless of battery level. On all of them, though, the processor slows down somewhat IIRC.

Ah ok, thank you very much. :)

I don't know how much the processor slows down, though... That'd be interesting to know :)
It shouldn't be significant, though. Probably only 1 or 2 hertz off, anyway (108 times per second instead of 110)

By the way, suppose that interrupts are running at normal speed.  Is the number of interrupts per second different on an 83+ than it is on an 83+SE / 84+ running in 6Mhz mode?

I'm not sure, actually. I know it's around 110Hz, but I dunno exactly.

The 83+SE has a crystal timer too? I wonder why didn't TI add a clock to that :-\/me loses

My guess is that they thought about the clock later. The TI-83+SE came out in Jan or March 2001 while the 84+/SE came out during Summer 2004.
