I don't know what 12 AM means, since I found serveral eplanations, even that 12 AM is a time that does not even exist (http://wwp.greenwichmeantime.com/info/noon.htm)!
-
I think it is midnight today by the time on this website, GMT-5
-
I don't hope so, but it could be true :(
-
oh, wait go to here: http://wwp.greenwichmeantime.com/time-zone/gmt-5/
so 2 hrs and 20mins from now
-
no, it is September 15th today, and not 16th. please don't scare me?
-
oh, sorry, I guess I'm looking forward to the contest entries too much...
-
well, I can imagine that :P but I have lots and lots of work to do to finish my entry.
-
According to your forum profile, you are in GMT+1. This means you have until Sept 16th 5:59:59 AM Netherlands time to work on your entry. In my case I would have until Sept 15th 11:59:59 PM, or if you never got to use the 12h system, then 23:59:59. Basically, at the time I am writing this message, there's 9 hours and 6 minutes left.
-
but... 12:00 AM is not 0:00 PM? I thought I had time till tomorrow 18:00 :( don't know wheter I will be finished in time...

*Dutch
Kortom, je hebt tot 6 uur morgenvroeg.
Na die tijd heb je de deadline gemist.
-
Put it this way: 12AM = Midnight. Yes, that's right, it counts like this: 12AM, 1AM, 2Am, 3AM, 4AM, 5AM, 6AM, 7AM, 8AM, 9AM, 10AM, 11AM, 12PM, 1PM...
It's a little messed up, but it's how it is. I blame the ancient Sumerians. ;D
-
I think it was the Ancient Egyptians. :P
-
no, I think it were the Vikings. My game is all about Vikings :P

Whoever it was, they sure made a mess :-\ It's like saying people count 8, 9, 100, 11, 12, ... 98, 99, 10, 101, 102... :P

Unfortunately, the 12 hours system confusion has costed Nitacku a place in the contest. I wish USA moved to the 24h system x.x
Next year the deadline hour will not be set to 12 AM or 12 PM.
-
am means At Morning
pm means Past Morning
(I think so)
-
I'm not too sure about the english terms, if any, but http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/12-hour_clock might explain it into details. AM/PM seemed to be something Latin, actually.
Also welcome here aeTIos :)
EDIT: Nvm, duplicate account. Concerned forum member warned via PM.
-
well, aeTIos also explained this to me at school, and it is just some kinda trick to remember what AM and PM mean, but i know it means Ante Meridiem and Post Meridiem, where Ante stands for 'before' and Post stands for 'after'

am means At Morning
pm means Past Morning
(I think so)
Well, that's actually a convenient way to remember. Great.
