Help with my code!

Im simply making a game called explorer and I can't get velocity correct...
I've tried Butts tutorial on velocity so I can make my character move more realistic but I can't seem to get it to work...
Right now the code has gotten jumbled up from me attempting to fix my mistake...
I have failed!
Please help!

The only thing I couldn't figure out was making the player stop when he hits his head on the ceiling. other than that, I think I got it. :D

Also, this is what I was supposed to fix, right? (the stuff on my calc is in a jumble :P)
