Okay, so I wanted to put some more pictures on the Casio Prizm calculator just for fun, this calculator is awesome. So I dragged in some JPEG files and some other file extensions and ran it through the Prizm. It turns out it can't even open these files, it says "Filetype Unavailable" when I browsed for the files. No big surprise there, the calculator wasn't made for looking at pictures.
So I looked through the documentation, and learned that the .G3P files are the Prizm's picture files, and the .G3B are the Prizm's animation files. So it IS possible to look at images through the calculator, and maybe even some animations. But maybe the Prizm community died or something? I haven't seen any new files on Cemetech's prizm archive for maybe a year or so, and that's surprising, since there's only 7 total programs there (heck, this forum only has two programs total)!!! both games and tools combined! So I am also surprised that this issue of the G3P picture file hasn't come up yet!
I think this calculator has so much potential, but it needs a stronger community. It has potential of playing animations, maybe even videos. So yeah, doing some searches on G3P and G3B, no website has any information on it. Casio provides very little information, and so far the only place I know that even has any G3P and G3B files is: http://edu.casio.com/products/cg_series/materials.html.

I don't know how that's possible, since the Prizm has only been out about that long :P
Also, there are more programs available for download that simply aren't in the archives.
Thirdly, Prizmwiki has information on the .g3p and .g3b file formats if you'll check there. Likewise, we can put images on the calc. Casio published a converter that you can download. You have to have an fx-cg20 for it to work (without disabling the security stuff in a hex editor).
Fourthly, .g3b files are *not* animations. They're more like picture books. One frame is shown, then the program halts until the user advances the frame by 1.

Is this disabling security bytes issue resolved? I checked the wiki but there is only info about changing the byte at 0x12. It no longer complains but doesn't open the converted files as well.

However, this tool is intended for teachers only and the created images only work on the fx-CG20 and not the fx-CG10. There aren't any other converters at the moment, sadly.

Heya and welcome here. Something I wonder is if a community member is planning to create such converter or even something like mViewer on the Nspire, which lets you view BMP pictures? On the prizm we don't even need to rename extensions when transfering stuff to them from what I remember, although I worry Casio might add protections if we ever had a custom converter or even a different format.

There is a viewer/converter deal at cemetech that I downloaded. The PC program converts jpeg files to the format the viewer program for the cg10 uses (you have to add the program to the casio menu). Sorry I don't have a direct link. Beats the teacher only program since it works on the cg10, although I would like the official version since that one supports animations.

Concerning this tool, people are aware of it. But there was a huge debate about this because this converter is exactly what Casio doesn't want, and no one would like the Prizm to become a closed platform, as the Nspire is.
Moreover, bumping an old thread is not advised, as the one who started the topic is often less active.
And double posting is also discouraged. You can use the edit button if you have to add something to your post :)

Sorry about the double post: Deleted. I didn't know it was an old thread and I was checking to see if there was an alternative to the tool I am using, not my intent to bump anything, perhaps the unintended double post made it seem that way.
Glad to see people are aware of it. I was looking for an alternative because the files for this tool are BIG. The picture is usually twice the size of the jpeg.
And your English is very good! :) (English is my second language, btw)
