OK, just wondering if anyone else ever had this happen to them.
I had my PRIZM attached to the computer via USB and after about 10 minutes the turn off screen displayed (you know, the white one with the casio logo on it). I did not have it in receive mode. It didn't turn off, it was stuck at that screen. none of the buttons would "wake it up" so I pressed the reset button on the back. The screen went blank.
I unplugged it from the computer and tried to turn it on with AC/on. nothing. I popped all the batteries out and put them back in. nothing. I tried plugging it back into the computer and pressed the reset button. still nothing. I even tried popping the batteries while it was plugged in and replacing them and it still won't turn on.
Can anyone help me?

try sending it a new OS if possible?

I can't. I need to be able turn the calc on to send a new OS.

What were the results of the USB thing Jimbauwens told you to try on IRC earlier?
Also this sucks if the calc broke. Did it break due to letting it connected to USB for too long? I heard stories about devices being fried over USB like Mic's TI-Nspire a few years ago (although IIRC that was a bug in OS 2.0.0) and sometimes it was caused by a sudden increase in power sent over the USB ports.
Regardless of why it broke, I hope they send you a new one for cheap.
Also did you try turning the calc ON while holding down OPTN and EXP? This opens the diagnostic menu. There's another key combination too, but I forgot what it was.

I tried both of the key combos, and the results of the USB thing are here:

dmesg|tail of my calc: http://pastebin.com/Ryz84fmv
lsusb of my sis's calc not in receive mode: http://pastebin.com/fAfXfxQt

EDIT:
And I have my proof-of-purchase so it is covered by warranty. I only pay shipping ($5.35)

Hmm both are the same. At least I'm glad you have the receipt still, though. Hopefully you can get a new calc soon. Some companies tend to take a long while to process customer issues. X.x

Yeah, I know. lirkiren (from UCF) had a problem like this before and they sent him a new calculator within a few weeks. I think I may call casio as well as emailing them.
/me expects to be on hold for a long time.

What I like about certain stores over here is that during the first year of warranty, you just have to send the calc back to the store where you bought it, so you don't have to ship it to the company, and you even get one as replacement immediately at the store. It isn't the case for every store, though. For extended warranties, now Staples also lets you bring back the calc to the store, but I believe such warranty costs between $40 and $120 (basically, you may pay your calc twice)

Yeah, only problem is that I got it during the promo offer casio had.

Casio replied:
Flyingfisch,
It sounds like you tried the correct procedures.
Try brand new batteries and then press the reset button?
If that doesn't work, here is the support information link.

Subject: Casio PRIZM will not turn on
Hello,

Is there anyway I can fix this or should I send it to casio?

After emailing them some more (the girl at costomer support told me on the phone that I had to send a notarized letter to them, and i didn't want to do that), I got this reply:
flyingfisch,
I will be sending out a return Fed Ex Label to you. Please use this label to send in your Prizm FXCG10 to our Service Dept. They will either repair it or replace it.
If you have any other questions let me know.

Nope :)

Just got a new calc sent to me today :)
It came in a box with a 1GB flash drive and lots of sales pamphlets.
-
They gave you a free 1GB flash drive? O.O
-
Wow awesome. Glad you got your new calc too :)

Yup. its blue and says casio on the side. it came with all the stuff in the cd ("Utilities CD for fx-CG 10/20, etc.) but i just deleted all that since they sent me the cd too.
I got a yellow flash drive with my 9750 too, looks just like this one just yellow. That was a couple years ago. i got it from walmart
-
I want that flashdrive :3

:D
Email casio and see if they'll send you one :P

The only issue with an 1 GB flash drive however is that today a 16 GB one costs around $30-50. So basically a 1 GB one isn't much value. <_<

well, the only one's i can find are 512MB, so...
and i think it was a sort of throw-in, like a party favor ;)
-
Really? O.O Where do you live? In most BestBuy, Walmart, Staples and FutureShop stores you can easily find ones up to 32 GB. ???
-
Where do you live?
This is an awkward question... :P
EDIT: 1300 post :D

I meant if he lived in the very middle of nowhere, 300 miles away from the nearbiest multinational store, where there's only one typical tiny, old, delapidated electronic store with leaking roof owned by some local resident, selling mostly outdated stuff that is overpriced and the owner looks like a 80 years old hippy. :P
