Netham45, is there a way you can bring back the old OmnomIRC even though it used more bandwidth and was slower and had less features?
Personally, I prefer an OmnomIRC version that works with #omnimaga, rather than a fancy OmnomIRC that is an online private chat. I'd really like it and since I know you're very busy to fix and develop this one further, I suspect it'd be easier to just bring back the old one or an earlier version of this one, back when it worked.
I really hope you can do it as it is making me a bit confused sometimes when people are talking in OmnomIRC and I use XChat and can't read conversations.
Thanks for your attention Netham45.
To all the others, state your opinion please.

The new OmnomIRC is supposed to connect to the IRC channel just like the old one. There is currently some kind of problem that prevents this from working, and Netham will probably fix it soon.

Well to be honest I think it would be a good idea with the upcoming Summer time, because I know during Summer Netham45 is missing in action due to 70-80 hours of work or going in vacations at places with no Internet access, and this started currently, noticing his lower activity. As a result, with OmnomIRC v2, since there's absolute no way to fix the problem (you tried 5 times and it still doesn't work), we will have no linked chat for 2 weeks sometimes, and I noticed that this affects forum activity sometimes, as people won't get notified of new posts automatically.
However, if OmnomIRC v1 returns, I would prefer if it was the 2010 one, since the other one with color nicks and multi-chan support slowed the site down like there was no tomorrow.

Colored names aren't worth the weight.

I totally agree, they're IRC Clients Sugar.
-
Or there could be an option to choose which one. Except leave out V1 2011, the one that slowed down the forums.
-
The thing is that is repeats messages from omniNet good, so it isn't a netsplit/disconnection thing.
-
I don't think it necessary to bring the old one back(unless it's isn't hard at all).I think Netham45's just quite busy. And I guess he knows about these problems but just doesn't have the time to fix them ATM.
-
Well, at least you can see IRC on omnom. But yeah, version 2.0 is kinda glitchy. Sometimes, it almost crashes my browser when I click "send".
-
I like the new version, the old version doesn't even work for me.

But this one doesn't work for anyone :P
-
it works enough at least as a private chat. For me it didn't even work as that before.
-
I like the new version, I just think he needs to fix the kinks and iron out the bugs. :)
-
The new version is better by far when the bugs are fixed. I just wish new ones would stop coming. If Netham can fix it then it will be connected to IRC otherwise I think it would be alright having a private chat

That's done server side, not OmnomIRC side if I remember correctly
-
My worry right now though is that Netham45 actually tried to fix the bugs before, twice or three time. He even said it should be fixed now, yet it always returns, which tells me fixing it will be a giant challenge, and since Summer is coming, I wonder if he will even have time to try to fix it.
On a side note sometimes it stops relaying IRC messages too. It's random. The common case is that Omnom stops sending messages and Spybot45 dies at once, but IRC messages still get send here.
-
Perhaps the old one could be put back in place temporarily while the source of the problem is being tracked down. I really hope it's fixable because the new version is really nice.

This is what I want, something temporary, while the new one isn't fixed.

Afraid that's not going to happen. The old OmnomIRC put too much pull on both Omnimaga and my server.
-
Yeah that was one worry I had. If Omnom 2 breaks often, most ppl would switch to 1 and eat your bandwidth. The first one before color addition wasn't too bad on the site side, though. Problems started on the update prior the switch to version 2.
-
It was still taking too much bandwidth on my side.
-
Yeah true. On top of that there are sometimes 40 members online at once.
-
@Netham: I see, no biggie then. We'll make due for now. :)
