Title: Duplicated nicks in user list
Post by: Darl181 on June 25, 2011, 10:02:20 pm
What the title says.  It seems to multiply when someone says something, but it's also somewhat random.

EDIT: added gif of scrolling.  calccapture ftw

Right now Omnom isn't even there. This was probably something to do with it disconnecting, thus it never "said" that a user disconnected, but the site "listened" and "heard" a user connect.

Yeah i disabled it because it was completely fucked up when I checked Omni earlier, and I was worried of many test posts in #omnimaga

There actually was a sort of convo going on... :P
But yeah it wasn't the best of environments to chat in.

Personally, I don't even see the User List.

Is it supposed to be fixed now? Because I saw it happen again earlier. OmnomIRC, InvaderKED and Eeems were showing up twice, and KittiGirl1 showed up as well, even though she was only online as KittyGirl.

I believe that's because they're on both networks, or they're signed into IRC twice(got disconnected, and the ghost hasn't timed out, etc...)

Ah ok. Well, until now I had many duplicates happening. not sure if that was fixed though because I didn't refresh the page in 2 hours when it did x.x

Getting some duplicates...ie there's two critors showing for me atm
Not sure if it's omnom-related tho b/c most of the duplicates are IRC people (say, 4 dreampads)

Nah it's definitively Omnom. Also it rarely updates. Sometimes it shows nicks from hours ago. At 10 PM I checked and Critor was there, even though he last signed in at  7 PM.

Netham45 you should update the userlist with NAMES <channel> and parse the output. (If you're not doing this already, only applicable on IRC.)

Somewhere I'm getting an issue where I'm adding a nick but not removing it properly. I've looked over it, but I haven't found it yet. :|

Slightly related: How often is the users online list updated? I'm seeing users from a week ago O.O

OmnomIRC aims to update realtime, I believe Omnimaga's is 15 or 30 minutes.

O.O

Netham45, I wonder if it would be a better idea to reset the nick list? Because earlier I joined from Mibbit but mibbit's random nickname generation/assigning gave me a rather questionable nickname and it remained in Omnom's online list >.<

I kinda worry this might encourage some people to use such nicknames for real otherwise.
