Title: Font
Post by: Deep Toaster on June 19, 2011, 01:15:55 am
Quick suggestion: What about making the font monospaced like Lucida Console or Monaco? They're pretty easy to read, and I think it would make some structuring stuff simpler, like making all the timestamps and user nicks (between <NICK> and * NICK) line up.

Yeah I agree. Make sure it's not too wide, though.

Yeah good point, and L Console does seem a little wide. Maybe you could mess with letter-spacing for that.

Yeah that could work. Else, if it wasn't for lack of certain chars or copyright issue,s he could just use TI fonts. :P

Another idea is Fyxedis. They look like SNES characters.

Monospaced fonts is a great idea. You could make it Courier New.

But that'd make code so much easier :P

I had the TI-83P font on there for about 12 seconds, it looked horrible.

Speaking of horrible, all the web-safe sans serif monospaced fonts suck.

Yeah we tested it a few minutes ago and it looked terrible O.O

Courier New's pretty hard to read though. Looks cool and all but it's not really practical. (Pas experience with making my default OS font C New x.x)

Except that it's not really web-safe except on Macs. That's why I suggested it as a backup beside Lucida Console, which looks similar and is loaded by default on Windows, Macs, and Linux.

Even better, font choosing?

Lucida was far too wide, and reducing it at all made some characters overlap.

I'll see about font selecting. If I could read all system fonts in Javascript, that'd be awesome...

There's a font called Small Fonts, not monospace but it can be squeezed pretty small.

Idk if there's System on many comps either...

This is kind of related to the font. I feel like the spacing around the blue line on the left that separates the names and text is a little tight. From my staring, it would appear that there is only 1 pixel on either side of it. And what happens is that some names, (like calc84maniac), look like they run into it.

So, I don't know if it's possible, but one or two more pixels on both sides of it should clean it up nice :D

Edit:
It's really only the left side that's the problem. The right side looks fine. (probably due to different text colors)
