Title: OmnomIRC
Post by: Quigibo on April 10, 2010, 12:31:48 am
Okay, I noticed that recently, there was the addition of the little chat box at the top of the page.  Its pretty cool, but it was kinda distracting so I hit the little minus sign on the right to move it out of the way.  However, it still constantly refreshes the page every few seconds even when the chat is not open and its really getting annoying, especially when I have multiple tabs of omnimaga open.  Is there a way to turn it off or some type of setting I can change?

Post by: DJ Omnimaga on April 10, 2010, 12:39:19 am
Mhmm normally the entire page shouldn't be refreshed. A loading bar appears, but it only refreshes the conversation and userlist area, so there's no danger of losing post content or the like, or even slow downs. Unfortunately there are no way atm to make it stop refreshing. However, maybe Netham45 could eventually add AJAX to it, if someone helps him (since he doesn't know AJAX) and do it the same way as on Cemetech. It would no longer requires refreshing.

If he updates the box, though, this won't be until next week, since he got extremly busy with school and work since yesterday.

Sorry for the inconveniences this might cause, but normally page refreshing shouldn't cause any harm really, unless you really mean the entire forum page refreshes, in which case it means you might be using a crappy browser.

Fail.

Heh, I have been pretty busy. I'm just up off of mountain dew, slimjims, and tacobell right now. :P

My schedule for the last 2 days has been: School: 7:30-2:25(get up at 6:30 and leave by 7 to get there, get home at 2:40), work from 3:30-10:00(leave home at 3:00, and get home at 11:00)
So I haven't had much free time. D:

I have another glorious 8 1/2 hour day tomorrow. >.>

I have it all ajax based now, and I'm going to bed.

The only issue is is that backslashes '\' don't make it through unless you escape out of them ('\\Blah' would become '\Blah')

Oh, also, links are clickable now too.

And sorry 'bout all the spam in #omnimaga D:

yay!

Only one issue, tho: when a forum image  or a sig/avatar is down, the chat won't load until you hit Esc x.x

I'm happy a lot tho that it works ^^

Yea, the Javascript code that initiates the loop doesn't load until every element of the page is either loaded, canceled, or failed.

Should be fixed. It came from the special chars in your names, primarily the space.

I see x.x,

So far so good, except the first time I opened the board this morning, sending something did nothing and the box never refreshed, even after refresh. Then a minute later I browsed the board more and it finally worked

I hope it won't break randomly x.x

Suggestion:
Could you make it where if we click a link that is on omnimaga it opens in the same tab, and if its another link (like youtube) it would open in a new tab?  btw, great program :)
Title: Re: OmnomIRC
Post by: DJ Omnimaga on April 10, 2010, 01:46:07 pm
I would like that too. Just make it so if the link starts with www.omnimaga.org/index.php, open in same tab, else we end up with like 10 tabs open when clicking new posts x.x and the OmnomIRC box is on every page after all.

I personally need to make the Java chat | Today's log |  | This year's logs | More... thing open in new tab, tho.

also, on my computer using opera, when I look at omnomIRC it shows the scrollbar partly up, so you miss the most recent message unless you scroll it down some.  The scroll bar as in the one that controls what messages you see.
Title: Re: OmnomIRC
Post by: DJ Omnimaga on April 10, 2010, 11:09:42 pm
Oh it might be due to lines of text wrapping on two on lower resolutions. I think I'll make it show 10 lines at once maximum, even if it leaves a gap at the bottom from time to time. The first day this was up I had a #bottom anchor in it but it caused the page to always scroll up when clicking back or new post links, which got annoying. On mobile it even caused the board to scroll down on low res

Cool I just noticed this now thanks a lot ^^

Also nvm my last post the new version of OmnomIRC won't let me do that via forum Admin CP. It's now Netham45 side x.x

EDIT: Ok it was fixed

However a new bug appeared: when logs switches to a new day (at 2 AM of the board default time), we get a 500 Internal server error on the chat convo area until it reaches 15 lines for that day. I wonder if you could fix that?

I also noticed that you couldn't type and display '\' unless there was more than one of them.
Title: Re: OmnomIRC

Yea, that's dealing with how PHP escapes the '\' char.

Basically we wouldn't be able to display directory paths? Oh well, we can always type them in the same way as URLs, with / instead of \. I never understood why they made directory paths use a slower to access char on the keyboard.

I always have that in mind. But I also remember that you don't need to escape / :P

Title: Re: OmnomIRC
Post by: DJ Omnimaga on April 18, 2010, 02:13:13 pm
Nah it doesn't. The bot would need to be able to login to the board, in its current form, and netham doesn't know how to deal with cookies in mIRC scripting. If the bot is ever tied to the database, this could be made possible, though, but then it would be hard to filter posts from the 4 staff forums

Is there any way to make Omnomirc display as all the separate people that use it?
Title: Re: OmnomIRC
Post by: DJ Omnimaga on April 21, 2010, 11:46:00 am
I'm not sure about this. I think Netham45 could have some sort of database that includes all forum nicks that used OmnomIRC in the past 15 or 30 minutes and show in the online list in different color. Then once it has been a while since the person posted, it gets taken off the online list.

When someone joins the channel, the bot could /notice the person of the active OmnomIRC users.

EDIT: Another thing I think it would be nice if the topic title was colored to the forum color theme too, because links are all blue in OmnomIRC, meaning it's hard to tell where a post was made.
Title: Re: OmnomIRC

Well, random new bug popped up...
While I was on my laptop, using OmnomIRC like normal, it started randomly repeating earlier messages.
It wasn't just the last message but just random messages in general. It was happening even while on another tab or another program entirely.
Eventually, I just gave up and closed the tab and, while checking the logs on my main PC, it was still repeating things even after I wasn't on Omnimaga anymore.

Here's a section of the logs:
http://removedfromgame.com/omnomirc.txt
At [16:10:22] I closed the tab after saying that message and it continued. It may still be continuing.

Just thought I'd bring this up. =/

I did not have this issue before, but I think SirCmpwn did many times. I don't know what browser he used. It happened at his school.

In my case, once, every 2 seconds while typing, my messages would be automatcially posted and I had to restart Opera to fix it. It only happened once, though, and a while ago.

It would be nice Netham45 when you return from vacation if you could maybe fix this issue:
Title: Re: OmnomIRC
Post by: DJ Omnimaga on December 04, 2010, 06:36:43 pm
A tiny bug with OmnomIRC:

When someone has exactly 1337 or 100000 posts, OmnomIRC thinks they have 0 posts, because their post count show up as leet and geek instead of 1337 and 100000, respectively. In other words, they can't use OmnomIRC until they post again.

Maybe when this SMF easter egg is triggered, you could have OmnomIRC check if the post count is a string instead of a number, or something like that.

Not a huge bug, although that was strange, lol.

Seems like the log parser doesN't work well when the bot name is different. When the clone disconnects it would be nice if OmnomIRC bot auto changed nick back to OmnomIRC.

Also I still wish the user online list made forum users clickable. The # besides each forum usernames is kinda misleading, especially that several Omni members frequents Cemetech.

Maybe a different Efnet server should be used for the bot?

I don't think that would even be possible. That said maybe there could be something in the future, assuming Netham45 can tie OmnomIRC directly with the board database, so users who got OmnomIRC minimized woN't get shown in the online list. As for AFK mode otherwise it would be useless, since after 30 minutes you no longer show up in the list anyway, and for IRC users it's up to them to decide if they want to change their name or not when AFK.

Maybe it's something Netham45 broke in some browsers. It started happening after he worked on OmnomIRC a few nights ago.

Netham45, could you fix this again? The userlist has brought that issue back up and it's kinda annoying (and when posting, scary, because it always looks like I accidentally hit the wrong button and am gonna lose my post). It might slow people computer down a lot if they got an old one too.

Otherwise if it's no longer possible to fix this, could you just reduce the user list refresh rate to 1 minute?
