Well, the 1TB USB stick shall be on market in Q1 2013, they have already released the 512GB version which already costs $1337 O.o (Do they know about 1337 O.o)

you say $1337? then why is it "only" €732? (do not wrongly interpret the only please)

It's nice, but who the hell is gonna pay about a thousand bucks for a drive like that? today they have 2.5" hard drives (ok, not that fast) of 1TB that cost about €100, I would choose that over €1000, and I think I'm not the only one :)

I could see this somewhat useful for those people that edit ultra high resolution videos.

Obviously kinda impractical to buy a flash drive that huge and expensive, but that's amazing nevertheless :P

There's a 1TB SSD you can get for $600, you could put it in a USB 3.0 enclosure and it should be faster. I personally wouldn't mind the increased size, because it makes it harder to lose.

Earlier I saw a 64 GB usb stick for $50 or so. I would rather buy 8 of those than just a $1337 512 GB one

i know a few people like that (hollywood film/commercial editors), and they would never trust their files to a flash drive.

It goes without saying that in a few years it will cost no more than $20.  If ever I need 1 TB I'll wait till then.

Actually I have 8GB, which is way too much for me

I don't really know where I get it from, but somehow I got the information that SD is in its current form can never take over 512GB. So or they would have to remake it so that it's still ccompatible with the current SD, or they'll ahve to fins a new standard (which is kinda coming up with ssd).

I personally don't need anything more than 2-4 GB for portable storage. I've had a 2 GB flash drive since 4th grade (and I'm in 8th grade now) and it still works fine. A bit slow compared to the "new" ones, though.

1 TB Nano SD. http://rookery.s3.amazonaws.com/3316000/3316302_6c93_625x1000.jpg

But I have a 32 GB flashdrive and I use most of it. Plus I would like this for computer backups, which I need to get something for other then cds...

My dad just bought me a 128GiB usb stick for my birthday :)
It was 99 euro, so kinda cheap in comparison ^.^

USB hard drives of 1TB also exist, and they are a lot cheaper than that flash drive. They probably are a lot slower too, but for video, which is in most cases why you would use one in the first place, it should be fine.

I agree with Hot Dog. In 2004, I remember that over here, a 128 MB flash drive costed close to $320. It was insane. Today you can get a 8 GB one for $8. Considering that, if that trend continues, then in 9 years, you'll be able to buy a 3 terabytes USB stick for $1 or so.

The original SD standard had a maximum size of 2GB, so SDHC was released which allowed for up to 32GB, and the newest standard, SDXC supports up to 512GB.

So we need a new standart :P

And I filled up my 16GB usb stick, filled up half of my second 16GB stick and didn't get to my 32GB stick yet :P
