Another PC RPG...

Okay, I just realize how much I screwed up RPG Maker 2000.  I put in some files the wrong way and now the default music files are kinda sorta screwed up and it won't play on other people's stuff most probably.  So after some consideration, I trashed my previous project.  But just to be nice, I started another similar one, based off of some short stories that I wrote.   You can read them here: http://timetravelerjoe.deviantart.com

Anyways, for the people who DIDN'T read them, the game follows the adventures of a green-haired, pointy-eared, attractive young woman named Esther who breaks out of a laboratory.  Unlike the stories I've written, the setting will be in some sort of freakish alternate world where there are monsters and magic and stuff so they make sense with the resources I have.

The battle system will be one much like Final Fantasy IV, with little time meters.  There are some interesting-looking battle sprites to go along with it.  My sprite is pretty darn cool.

Unfortunately, I have no screenshots yet.  I'm not at home, and I'm still working out some stuff.  Maybe I'll make a playable demo when I get the chance.

I'm just glad that I'm actually doing something right now.  :Dbiggrin.gif

Oh, I forgot to mention, I'm using RPG Maker 2003 this time.  Since I really don't have anything planned out for the plot after a certain point, there's a decent chance that I could finish it.

No, not really.  If you read what I gave the links to, this is actually based off of a humorous/romantic/action-packed short story, so it'll probably be more of a non-traditional quest.  However, I might throw in a reference to FFVII, simply because that's what's in my PS2 right now.  Aeris dying was sad, even though I knew it was coming... *shakes out of it*

Basically, this girl is being hunted down by a lab for escaping after they tried to absorb her soul.  She runs through a small town and busts into a villager's house- an  young hunter named Joe.  As the two go through a series of weird adventures, they attempt to discover an ultimate weapon and have to keep the bad guys from getting ahold of it.  There will be four characters that will eventually join the party, and maybe more if I feel like it.  Joe is obviously based off of my erratic and impulsive side, and he gets himself into some weird situations. I hope this game will make people laugh, but still consider it somewhat serious.

No, no Bob in this... it isn't that sort of humor.  Though, that is an idea for maybe a hidden boss battle.

*Update*

Random dungeons!  Enough said.  Unfortunately, there may be times when you can't get through an area, but you can simply leave the map screen and come right back to it.  Quite handy, since making large dungeons by hand is tedious, and it adds some variety to the game.

And, as I promised, a screenshot of the intro area.

Yeah, a bit akin in style (graphically, not in plot) to Aura.

Correction Request: I'm using RPG Maker 2003, not 2000.

Progress is going swimmingly, although I going to have to write decent boss music myself since I can't find anything I've already done that really works.
