WOO! This game looks like it is really coming together well! :D
You said something about a demo?
-
wow this is nice! getting even better
I will make you staff asap. I still need to mess around with settings though
-
sweet deal, im looking foward to the demo
-
This looks better than I thought it did!
Btw, how difficult is GM6? I downloaded GM7 when it was released and only used it twice...
-
GM7 is essentialy just a vista compatible version with a few extra scripts built in and an extra "extension" mechansim that I strongly dislike.
-
(http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v491/bbensonpck/combatballnewwindow.png)
Preliminary window for game. I will probably make the HUD fit with this better and possibly grebble it up but for right now, this is how the game looks.
-
cool, this will look better than the windows one.
-
so, when is the next demo?
-
don't know. Probably when I get the last chunk of new levels done and the new boss done.
-
Ok, well just keep us in the know about it. :D
-
Well, added a picture of the new hud designed to fit better into the new window. Still have work to do but I think I am pretty much satisfied with the astetics until I get this demo out (I hope to use mush better textures for the next update)
wow, I just realised I have been working on this for over a year and a half
-
yeah it has been a while alerady O.o
the game is getting better and better :D
-
Looks cool I will definitly try the demo.
-
It looks nice, but eww, game maker. :P Sorry. I have a thing against game maker. It's a purely personal bias though. I hope you are more successful with game maker than I was, and I wish you good luck with this project :)
-
It is a bit difficult to get the hang of as it forces you to either know its laungage inside and out or to realy work arround the flaws of the drag and drop functions it has, but if you get used GML its fine for games like this.
-
i had the same problem with rpg maker at first, but now when u get used to it it's pretty quick to use
-
(http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v491/bbensonpck/anothercombatballscreeny.png)
well, its minor but the hud and window now fully both work and I made a few visual changes (again) to the hud.
-
Great!!!
-
It all looks great, that lab sign looks really neat!
-
nice. I really like the street signs. the green and orange ones were pretty cool. they have some kind of futuristic texture to them.
-
I can't wait to see this when it's finished. I haven't seen any real good examples of what GM can do yet :)
-
Are there any animated screenshots of this (awesome graphics, necro!!) game?
-
There was a video on Youtube here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vFS6VnpmLxU (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vFS6VnpmLxU) but the music isn't from the game and the capture rate is very slow. On my PC it ran at like 30 fps (at which the game was set to run)
If i ever get an hold of another version I may try to do another screenshot
-
o.o it's like mario except w/ a gun!! pretty awesome.

Sig that quote, lol!

I agree. This will be interesting!

Well, recently I have been trying to put a site together for combat ball and other projects and not much else due to school. That said, one of my classes should by requiring a lot less after this week so I can work on the game much more. Among the planned features for the site are videos of gameplay, some of the minigames for combat ball, weaponary and beastiary pages and so forth. That said, I have the temporary hosting for it (though I want to be rid of the adds).
So, I suppose will post a update when i have something more to say than "I am making levels today".
-
Hmm, not much but here is a little little test script I made (you can view the source if you want as its stored in the page)
http://cypheric.free-site-host.com/Weapons.html (http://cypheric.free-site-host.com/Weapons.html)
this would allow me to do have a pretty nice help file for the game, and I am thinking about making a mini rpg in jscript on the site.
-
Nice ^^ i wasnt sure if it would crash my browser so I tried in Firefox in case instead of Opera ^^
-
why would it? It is just a single iframe to that page of content and in it, the onclick event of each of the small guns changes the src via a function
-
well when i saw the word script in your post I tested in another browser cuz i remember ppl showing me scripts before and it messed up my browser very bad because they wanted to prank me or something, and since it's new I was being careful in case there would be a bug
-
Kevin, have I created anything malicous to date...come to think of it, have I created much of anything to date? Well, anyway there shouldn't be any sort of chance for problems with the scripts I am making...
ps: maybe the uber long member title should be changed...it makes the forums a bit harder to read.
-
I have no problem reading the forums with this title so I will not change it no matter people preference. However I wonder if Invisionfree will fix that huge post height bug in both IE and Opera
-
No problem in FF here, btw necro I love that Sailor Moon avatar!
-
wow nice... but at first i was expecting a bloody mess after 10 seconds or something even worse ala necro lol
-

wow...for two days work I think this is not half bad for a site (the links aren't working yet as I haven't put them together yet, and I know this still needs some sprucing up (like the screeny discription))
I will be putting up a donation box to help the effort to get an actual site set up...of course, if that was reached the rest would go towards supplies like a drawing tablet and hardware upgrades (I am realy killing my system right now the way I multitask ;.; )
-
I like the design. If you can you should change the fonts to courrier new (bold) for the menu. It would make it more Sci-fi ish and x-files ish ^^
-
not bad, imho I'd go w/ more red and less green, but the neutral green background works well.
-
@necro i think people are waiting the old board to be back up so they will not post until it is, knowing this board will not be used afterward and you come on IRC way too late, you gotta come more often around from 4 PM to 1 AM, which is where there is usually people online :P, it's ok if you cant though
-
Well I love this color usage in this site, easy to see text (unlike your old forums, which were very nice as well).
-
I plan to get to updating by sometime friday
-
cool, I will be looking forward for the update :)
by update do u mean demo too?
-
wow love them :D keeep up the good work!
-
I love you menu to the left, but you might make it where you hover and it changes. If you need help doing so I can, but here is my site (http://kalanrock.us) if you want to look at some source code to learn from.
-
Well, the site now has three pages up. Yay...
-
(http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v491/bbensonpck/combat_ball_title.png) (http://cypheric.free-site-host.com/projects/combatball.html)
fair sized update
-
wow I love this logo, this is gonna be used for the HUD, right? And nice site, I like the progress so far
-
Well, a new update to the site is planned...should change pretty drasticaly
-
Cool, I will try to check sometimes to see the changes :D
-
so... Where is that infamous demo?
-
It'S not avaliable yet, unless you mean the old demo from last year, which is located here: http://omnimaga.unitedti.org/combatball.zip (http://omnimaga.unitedti.org/combatball.zip)

I mean, when will it be out. :P
-
the demo has no set release date other than when it is ready.
-
the demo has no set release date other than when it is ready.
Sounds like a Detached Solutions project ^_^
-
Uh huh :)
-
lol, I think most ppl do this, since it's impossible to set a date, as it will most likely be delayed. If it's not the opposite will happen
-
Well, i have improved the coding methodology for all of the enemies (at least IMO) by switching from hard coding every action I would like a creature to do and then trying to come up with conditionals to get there (which produces very messy and poor code that is hard to work with, comment, or debug), I am now using a weighted conditional case/switch system. The new methodology is nice because I can tweak and test everything much easier and allow for much easier alteration and debug. If anyone wants I can post the general idea (seems like it ought to be pretty easy to port)...and i think I will use this methodology from now on unless I find something better in my other projects to.
That said, as this will be the last demo I will release till I overhaul the entire engine and pretty much do an entire rewrite of much of the game's core engine, I was wondering if you want a very large demo or if you want me to try to finish what I have here and get this out without a number of features I haven't quite got all working yet.
-
great to hear, I can't wait to see the game in action :)
-
The later would be fine for me, actually either (but the sooner would be great).
-
both? :P
-
lol
