Ludum Dare 30

I made an entry for Ludum Dare 30 and I figured I'd share it with you all.

I decided I was going to make an RTS. It even has multiplayer over LAN (and possibly internet).

Late last night, Quebec was invaded by a group calling themselves, "Omnimaga". Not much is known about these mysterious people except that they all carried calculators of some kind and they all seemed to converge on one house in particular. Experts estimate that the combined power of their fabled calculators is greater than all the worlds super computers put together. The group seems to be holding out in the home of a certain DJ_O, who the Omnimagians claim to be their founder. Such power has put the world at a standstill with everyone waiting to see what the Omnimagians will do...

Wait... This just in, the Omnimagians have sent the UN a list of demands that must be met or else the world will be "submitted to the wrath of Netham45's Lobster Army". Such demands include >9001 crates of peanuts, sacrificial blue lobsters, and a wide assortment of cherry flavored items. With such computing power stored in the hands of such people, we can only hope these demands are met.

In the wake of these events, we can only ask, Why? Why do these people make these demands, what caused them to gather, and what are their future plans...

Hey long time no see! I was wondering where you have been since you kinda vanished from Omni in the past few months. I'M gonna check this out soon. I play Starcraft II but I don't play other RTSes much.

It's definitely been a while. My activity may start picking up more soon once the semester starts for me. I tend to browse Omni more in between classes.

This entry is primarily a base building RTS. So it's closer to, say, Tiberian Sun than SCII. And it was made in 72 hours, so gameplay isn't nearly as refined. :P

Looks nice! I always intend to do Lundum Dare, but I keep not keeping up with it :P If you're interested in Java stuff, do you want to do a team entry on the next one?

They have a mailing list that's real convenient for keeping up with things.

I tend to go for the 48 hour individual competitions, so I can't do team entries. Also, most of the time when I make something in Java, it suffers slowdowns unless the code is real optimised.

Well, the issue is that if you mean mailing lists as in like the ticalc.org or Usenet ones, then those mailing lists are ancient and most people used to modern social networks and bulletin boards will most likely not follow such list unless they check their e-mail inbox every few hour or so >.<
