Title: My project: Phil
Post by: Augs on December 18, 2012, 12:29:07 pm
So I have had this idea to make an RPG for a year now but never got round to it due to the fact that I knew I would probably ditch it(because I am lazy). But now I finally decided to do something.

I was going to use^ as my story but I decided to change it due to:

1) You already know it

2) Cheesy

The RPG will be released on PC only using C# with XNA.

Well, I did a few days of coding but had to stop due to the fact that I am on holiday. :D

Development will resume on the 5th of jan.

So far, all I have is a title screen, a save/load function and a char that can move around the screen(WASD).

I know :( I am terrible at staying on one project. Hopefully I will stay on this one.

As for screen shots it will look something like this.

The art is based off my first C# project: "RPG!"

If you go for such graphics, you should make them so tiles are only like 3-4 colors each, so it looks proper old-school (something close to 16 bits), else maybe the graphics might need some improvement later to be consistent with the character. As for the character it kinda reminds me Minecraft actually :D.

Also I assume the resolution will be 16:9? Will it be possible to play in full screen? (stretched)

I never did graphical stuff yet on the computer (apart from browser), so, it is looking cool to me :P
And I guess the grass is drawn by a tilemapper?

You can't play in full screen so far and I don't plan to implement this feature. Maybe when the game is finished.

A little update on what is going on so far, slow development but it's getting there.

I made this Phil related artwork. The one on the right is the main antagonist, the other is a mob.

I like the style. For the floor above, though, I would make the black lines brown-ish, though, so it's easier to distinguish the character.
