Title: Untitled Super Mario Clone for Windows.
Post by: BrownyTCat on June 19, 2011, 08:57:20 am
This started as an experiment, but I forced out a demo.

To-Do List!
v0.1: The cursor does nothing and enemies can't effect you; minor audio volume balancing issues.

After nine years in development, hopefully it will have been worth the weight wait.
Retrieve demo here (http://www.filedropper.com/demo_1). (EXE; should NOT contain anything harmful).

Screenieeeee!

Wow nine years?! You've done an incredible job on this. It's really fun already, and good job on the color choices :D Why is everything partially transparent though?

corrections bolded.  That looks nice!  Sorry about the grammar issues though.  It would have brought harm to my soul if I hadn't corrected.

I like the look but a few suggestions:

-Post the game controls
-Allow full screen. On 1920x1080 it's rather small x.x

Also I like the music. It reminds me of Sega Megadrive/Genesis music.

COMB presumably stands for ClOne Mario Brothers? Or maybe Clone Of Mario Brothers.

Gabe Newell reference, It had to be done.

Small Update!
Still no use for the cursor, not that it's a requirement right now. I guess v0.2 is up since I got enemy-caused deaths to run. Also, the deaths are all animated.
As usual, a sceenshot is attached for your viewing pleasure. Out of curiosity, are sounds running on your computer? I've tried to compress them into the EXE.

Fetch the demo here if you don't want to read this (http://www.filedropper.com/demo_10)

What's coming next?
-? Blocks for sure
-Coins for sure
-Working pipes possibly
-Health with mushrooms quite possibly (this is not an "orthodox" Mario game)
-More tiles for sure
-Multiple levels definitely, at least 2 next demo.

Same here.

I was able to download it in Opera 11.11, Aurora 6.0a2 (Firefox experimental build), and IE8. When I tried it in Google Chrome 12.0.742.100, I wasn't even able to download it, the download was interrupted before it completed. After all the downloads that finished, I ran the file to be greeted by either a "File Error!" or in IE's case, "Invalid data in executable file!".
