If you would like to stop going to a site or someone else, you can try this method:
1. Open a web browser (Internet Explorer, Firefox etc..).
2. In the ttile bar, paste this in: C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc
3. Open the file 'hosts' in notepad. (Right click -> 'open with', choose notepad).
4. Add a new line and then this: 127.0.0.1 site.com (any site, like google.com or ticalc.org)
5. Save it and see what happens.

Yeah, sorry I didn't add that. I used to visit a forum (blizzhackers.com) too often, so I asked to be banned. They didn't do it, so I was like please but still no answer...So then I was like "I'll make they ban me!", so I spammed about 10,000 smilies that were gifs....Took about 3 mins to load on cable :Ptongue.gif, then someone told me to just use the above method...Hehe, I soon was banned by them :Ptongue.gif

It blocks access to the site that you place in there.

Yeah, but that would to long of a list (your bros sites :Ptongue.gif)...But it is useful to do if you are addicted to a certain site/forum (looks at self)...Hehe, but it wouldn't be too good for me as I would know how to change it back and be back on real soon ;)wink.gif

You can do it, just try it in IE or go into your system folder and do the same thing.

i know but it doesnt work, could you give me an example by pasting the host file content in a quote here? Because I dunno how to get it to work. Does it work under admin or do I need to create a  new user account on Windows?

EDIT: thats what I did: what I am doing wrong?

I'm going to assume the non-localhost one is MC (never been there). You don't put in their IP, you do loop-back adress (127.0.0.1)

oh great it works now, for some reasons it didnt yesterday, even with the localhost IP. this is what I have now
