Title: For all u pc customization junkies
Post by: nitacku on November 23, 2007, 02:20:00 am
I was looking for ways to customize my pc again online and I happened to come across this: http://rocketdock.com/

I haven't tried it yet, but it looks cool, and best of all it's free! :)smile.gif
So if any of you out there wished you had a mac but are stuck with windows, here you go.

neato.... I think I'm gonna use that one, great substitution for the pesky quicklaunch thingy ^^

other stuff I use for changing the look&feel of the desktop:
-rainmeter (customizable statbar/-window)
-rainlendar2 (calender, by the same author as rainmeter)
-wallpaperchanger (does as it says ^^)
-allsnap (makes windows sticky, no more accidental overlapping)
-area04 window theme

@DJ: you just have to find programs that are not space-hogs ^^
for example: rainmeters fade-effect on mouse-over works fluently even on this machine (P3 800Mhz, integrated graphics, laptop)

@DJ: If you have windows, remember that msconfig is your friend.  It's amazing how much crap Microsoft has running at startup.

Good find, nitacku.  I'll see how this compares to Y's dock and ObjectDock.

EDIT:  I tried it, and it's great.  :king:king2.gif It seems to have better performance that ObjectDock and is more customizable than Y's dock.

nope, it is part of windows. I find it excellent to make my PC boot faster, and troubleshoot when it doesn't boot.

Just make sure you don't kill an important process.

http://www.microsoft.com/technet/sysinternals/utilities/processexplorer.mspx is useful too.  It's like the task manager but it shows the full name and the location of each running process and the company who made it.  With it you can generally figure out which processes you can get rid of. (all you do is end the ones that have Microsoft as the company! j/k, maybe not :)smile.gif)
