For viruses, a program I used to save my computer from a thousand zlob Trojans was Spyhunter 3 (now is Spyhunter 4) it can scan but can't remove till you buy.

First, if at all possible, save all your important files to something removable or a storage place , like drop box or something. Then work on fixing the problem. Just one thing I know from experience is that every virus is different and they sometimes take many different ways to get rid of them, so just save all your important stuff first! as for getting rid of the virus, try epic's way! Good luck :P

In addition to my zlob Trojan virus, I had a virus that would not allow programs to be opened. They could be moved though. I moved them to a external hard drive then reset the entire memory. But that is a desperate measure :P

Idk try malawarebytes

If you are running Windows XP SP3 or newer, just download Windows Security Essentials and Super AntiSpyware. Both of these have proven to be amazing at cleansing a computer of viruses and the like. You might need to see about getting these installed via safemode, or scan with avast in safemode, it -might- be able to remove them from there.

the malwarebytes, was recommended by a computer programmer my dad knows, and this guy is serious, so I'd trust that it would do the job....but make sure you save all your stuff to dropbox before you download anything else!

I work on computers on the side and have recovered several computers with the 2 programs I mentioned. They are highly effective and I give them the highest of recommendations for use in removing viruses and keeping your machine clean in the first place.

I think Avast always says something about your file being potentially unsafe nowadays. Always happens to me when I try to open some executable I downloaded from the Internet or from my USB drive, even happened with programs I wrote...

Heh, dropbox doesn't give you anywhere near 30 GB from what I understand.

@Annoying, Avast always says that. How are you canceling the opening of the program? They don't start executing until after you hit the okay button, so...

Personally, if I were one of their scripts and I saw the same IP making multiple accounts, I'd ban it faster than you can blink.

I know, I was joking,... but there has got to be a website that can hold more!

And apparently, (for business purposes) you can BUY a 50gb account. probably expensive though :P

I've yet to see anything that lets you hold more than 5 GB permanently without paying.

Skydrive holds 25 GB if you got a Windows Live account.

25? Perhaps, but it's not 25 GB of contiguous space. You get about 5 GB of stuff per section and transferring between sections is a pain.

I would just try and google the name of the virus on a different computer, while restarting the infected one in Safe Mode. From there you can probably follow whatever instructions you find online (usually involves deleting registry entries) or download Microsoft Security Essentials, as others have said.
