Title: LCD vs CRT
Post by: Demon on November 22, 2006, 01:04:00 pm
My choice would be an LCD monitor 'cause they're much easier on the eyes.

LCD for size, CRT for quality. Just my opinion.

LCD for space it takes compared to CRT, the fact max size for CRT seems to be 19inch

It used to be CRT for quality, but now it's definitely LCD for both. LCD pwnz0rz.

@xlibman I have in fact seen a 21" CRT... it was monstrous

I myself still have a CRT, and it's ok... save for the random screen failures I am getting. ._.
CRTs do provide a better screen quality, but are bulky and heavy.
LCDs on the other hand are easier for the eyes and not as heavy and big, but only work good when set to max. resolution, else the OSD has to do interpolation. Which is crap.

So over all, I still like LCDs better. Must get one. Screen slowly failing. help my comp! ^^'

I prefer LCDs, only because that's the kind of monitor that I have, and am very attached to my monitor. :)smile.gif

I like LCDs, because all of the CRT's in my house flicker when I turn my dishwasher on, but I like CRT's because they have a higher max resolution, and change that easier.

I guess this is why my pc has 1 LCD monitor and 1 CRT monitor.

uhh.. my lcd is 1680*1050, don't think I'd need higher than that unless I had a 20" screen or something. :)smile.gif Rofl @ dishwasher though. XDsmiley.gif

mm... well cs:s and bf2 and all the shader model 2 games I run at about 1280*1024 or whatever the crap the closest widescreen setting is to that. All the settings maxed except like anti-aliasing and anisropic filtering and that super fancy jazz. Oblivion on the other hand... :/confused.gif

Yah, Oblivion takes up all you computer's resources. But if you have your resolution maxed out, it should look pretty good.  :)smile.gif

I dont have a very powerful vid card, its better than intel extreme graphics 2 cards tho but for example Halo 1 will run at 20 ish fps with everything maxed out, but if ppl come online or if i play campaing mode it start running slower

Graywolf, you know that ati radeons are some of the top end graphics cards right? Nvidia Geforce and ATI (amd) Radeon are the big name graphics cards always buttin' heads to be the most powerful. Right now Nvidia's got the lead since they released their first dx10 cards early. Before that ATI was winning with the Radeon x1950XTX or whatever. Also, you can't game on a macbook. ;)wink.gif

I use radeon x700 so ya that's kinda old now, but it's still pretty nifty spifty. I run most of the new games on the "high" setting so it works for me. Maybe next summer I'll upgrade to one o' them dx10 cards... if I have money. :Ptongue.gif

I didn't mean to say ATI/Nvidia cards are bad since I have a Nvidia 7800...
Kevin said that his computer is slow (hence the upgrade) and his card was better than Intel... so I guessed he had some kind of Nvidia/ATI.

And yah Macbook is not for gaming, but I want a laptop and its pretty good (specs).

If I'll get a lappy it'd have to be able to run most current games at decent speed...
I'm saving up for one... and I think I'll also get one of those hydrogen generators you can glue to the bottom of your lappy *_*
10 hours of gaming without recharging w00ts!

Ah okay, I thought you were implying radeons were the bad. I got it now! \o/ Mostly xlibman's problem is his mobo doesn't have AGP or PCI-E. There aren't very many PCI graphics cards anymore. :/confused.gif
