Title: Leap Motion
Post by: Sorunome on May 26, 2012, 03:55:07 pm
Quigibo mentioned today in his thread (http://ourl.ca/16256/303314;topicseen) Leap Motion (http://www.leapmotion.com/), which was pretty epic to all of us who were online at that moment on omnomIRC.
So, why not tell what epic stuff you'd imagine to do with it?
I'd find it epic to have some cool 3D GUI on computers, like a 3D-desktop.

Oh, if this is in the wrong category then please move it!

3D games, obviously. With immersive stuff, stuff like that.

Or else, integration with Axe?

How about interfacing directly with the OS?  That would be pretty cool.
(Windows 8  0.o )

It can already emulate a standard mouse, touchpad, and stylus.  So everything in that respect is already reverse compatible.  However, those devices all only have 2 degrees of freedom which is kind of a waste of another dimension entirely.  The cool part comes in when you actually can use all 3 dimensions to physically manipulate objects in real 3D space, and 3D screens and headsets make the experience even more realistic.

I wonder how starcraft would play with this

So this is like the Kinect in same way, but better ? (No Microsoft, and possible official Linux support :D)
In that case, I'm sold :)

The combination of this, a Raspberry Pi and XBMC is going to be great !

That would be very awesome if humanity evolved to that level of interfacing

Maybe 3D communication like in star wars
