Title: What OS?
Post by: Netham45 on May 03, 2007, 02:44:00 am
Ok, I almost have my new computer built and I was just wondering what OS I should put on it. I need to have XP for school crap, but I am going to do a dual-boot. Im probabally going to go with Ubuntu/Kubuntu, but does anyone know of any other OS that might be worth my time to look into?

Windows XP. Believe me, I've used Ubuntu and Kubuntu for almost a year. They are NOT ready for regular use. Kubuntu is especially glitchy and annoying. Ubuntu is close to being good. With Beryl (not on eye candy settings but using decent skins instead of the built-in crap), it's fun and easy to use. You'll still sit there and wish that you were using Windows though, believe me.

I have used Ubuntu for a couple of months now, and I love it, really don't see the need for Windows most of the time anymore.

Delnar: that's pretty funny

generally, don't post in a thread where the problem's been resolved a long time ago, or a thread where activity has died off (except maybe project forums) a long time ago.  don't post unless you have a very good and very relevant reason.

It's ok, they don't teach about forum rules in schools, so you'll probably have to learn from your first few mistakes, observe other people's forum behavior, or read through all the board rules. BTW, the last choice isn't really recommended unless every second word in your sentence is a cus.
