Old Nintendo way to connect two 3DS, useful to avoid undesired connexions with random dudes. On Games like mario Kart, you don't have to share friend codes, you can play with random players, but if you want to meet a friend in a game, you'll need his/her firend code. it's like a gamertag or something else.

This is just my thought, but maybe children want their names as nickname but the net can't support an infinite number of Arthur and Kimia :P
So either the children have to accept to be called Arthur89 and Kimia57 or let them be called the way they want but differentiate them with those friend codes.

Nintendo hasn't confirmed that it will be used for anything other than linking eShop funds and Miiverse, so my guess is that it won't be used for the friend list.

It was quite surprising to me when I got my Wii U and when I entered my 3DS info it said my account didn't exist. I thought my account was deleted due to inactivity and didn't realize I needed a separate one for both consoles.

What games do you guy play by the way? When it comes to online games, I mostly played Mario Kart 7.
