Recently I've used MAME www.mamedev.org (http://www.mamedev.org) to develop a serious addiction to games like Garou: Mark of the Wolves and Soul Calibur I...
The more retro the better!
Thoughts?
(Edit: also if anyone wants to arrange bouts through MAMEhub http://blog.mamehub.info/ (http://blog.mamehub.info/) PM me)

For me it's a toss up between Super Smash Brothers and Marvel VS Capcom 2.
-
Super Smash Bros. Brawl.
-
KOFXIII
-
Super Smash Bros. Brawl.
^^
Complete agreement, there...
After all it has a full-length campaign and tons of nintendo characters.
-
Super Smash Bros. Brawl.
Likewise.
-
I love the Blazblue series (as evident by my Taokaka related avatars :3)
The story and characters are pretty well done, and the game mechanics are pretty solid.
-
Yeah Super Smash Bros. is pretty awesome, helped by the fact that it's far simpler than the others out there!
KOF is a pretty solid series, as is Marvel vs. Capcom.
Though I just never got my head round 6 buttons... :banghead:
Edit: Project 64 emulates Super Smash Bros. really well - http://www.pj64-emu.com/ (http://www.pj64-emu.com/)

Marvel VS Capcom 3 super smash bros mortal kombat

A new Blazblue is coming out I think...

Yes, it's called Chrono Phantasma XD
-
One Piece and SSBB. I've only played mortal combat once.
-
Fighting is Magic has been leaked, apparently.
-
Whatever happened to street fighter? ???
-
Oh yeah, Street Fighter, a classic.
-
SSBB, if only because we play it at all of our Asian parties. I can never figure out Street Fighter, I just mash random buttons :P
-
SSB series and Mortal Kombat
-
Same as DJ, but along with Tekken (1 & 3), Virtua Fighter 5, and Street Fighter (They're all good :3).
-
To be honest, I actually don't play any pc games at all, no time ^^
-
for parties, i'd say the original SSB for N64. the other two just feel sluggish in comparison because of too much animation smoothing etcetera.
for co-op, i'd say dynasty warriors. the actual fighting dynamics aren't that great, but there is a bit of strategy involved, and there's something very satisfying about smashing through a group of 50 enemies at once.
-
Yeah I get the appeal of that but I like games with a lot more challenge
Street fighter and co. have some serious depth to their systems... Though it gets a bit frustrating when you get beaten by a button basher! :banghead:

Calc games? :P

Actually Super Smash Brothers is srs bsns! When you get people that play at high levels that stuff is pretty ridiculous! My friends and I are fairly hardcore on the original one. =)
-
=D my brothers and i used to wear our thumbs raw in SSB N64 tournaments XD
those hard plastic analogue sticks are rough.
-
Personally I was never that much into fighting games. I played a bit of Street Fighter but I grew up with the SNES and Nintendo 64 Mortal Kombat games, along with SSB series. I never got into Tekken really. Other than that, I played Street Combat too (some cheap Ranma 1/2 knockoff) and mostly beat-em-up games like Double Dragon and the Teenage Mutan Ninja Turtles game on the NES.
-
Shmibs: I used to play Dynasty Warriors and Samurai Warriors a lot too. I still have it also ^_^. Well atleast for the psp I do D:

Technically I was referring to dynasty warriors but that's a fair point. Anyone wanting to be pro at the original ssb, there's a decent guide here, along with incomplete guides to brawl and melee: http://wiki.shoryuken.com/Super_Smash_Bros. (http://wiki.shoryuken.com/Super_Smash_Bros.)

lol guess I'm the only one that knows about & has played Dark Legends(US)/Suikoenbu(JP)/Outlaws of the Lost Dynasty(EN) :P
It's by Data East, and plays like a combination of Samurai Showdown & Street Fighter... as in you start off with a weapon, and play Samurai Showdown style (slow, not too many combo's can be performed, more damaging attacks), but if you want, you can ditch your weapon and play Street Fighter Style (characters are faster, combos can be easily performed, less damaging attacks).
Here's a video to show...
I'd recommend picking up the Saturn version if you want it :-P Otherwise if you wanna emulate it, there's a PSX version too, but it's Japan only
