Yeah so this funny new game came out called Black Ops one week and one day ago. I have it. For PC. It is good. Anyone else thinking of getting it, or have it?
This is basically a discussion about the game's qualities, balance, weapons, perks, etc...
-
I think I'll get it, eventually...
-
Yeah its pretty good. It got a lot more realistic and most people think its balanced and the spawn system is pretty good.
-
I thought about getting it since my PC can run better games now, but I don't play FPSes very much and am mostly a fan of Unreal Tournament series, but it seemed quite cool.
-
YOU ARE A UT3 FAN? NO WAY! ME TOO! I MAKE MAPS FOR IT AND STUFF :D
-
yeah, you actually need to take a look at his maps; they're pretty sweet -- I even watch him make and test one on a mountain/canyon and a waterfall. What happened to that one anyways?
-
Ah, I got Black Ops and play that mainly now but I will occasionally work on it. The idea is that its on the side of a canyon with a waterfall. VCTF.

I tried black ops at a friend's and looks much better than Modern Warfare 2, so I would go:
Black Ops>Modern Warfare 1>Modern Warfare2
:D

I agree. I think WaW is also better than mw2 becuase of the zombies and the guns are pretty realistic. Yeah the weapons in BO are much more balanced. Xept the Russian guns are the best as usual :P

Nah, more like UTGOTY (the first one) and UT2004. I don't play as much anymore but sometimes I play with people on the forums and people on Cemetech often play 2K4. I got UT3 for 360 but for that kind of FPS I prefer mouse controls. Can you take some screen-shots or video captures of your maps? I am curious how they look like. Do you often play death matches, by the way? Or you could post them in case some of us ever gets UT3. I think most people got old computers, though. My previous comp could barely run UT2004, lol.

black ops?
Why buy black ops when you can have wfrng on your calc for free?
-
Lol happybobjr XD
You can have WFRNG for the computer too. :P
-
XNA WFRNG, anyone?
-
I would lol if that actually appeared on Xbox Live Indie Games store.
-
HAHA
-
Hmm that would be funny...
/me runs of to program WFRNG in XNA/C#
-
Yeah. I could make one for Android :P

Well when I can actually get in with my PS3 the game is pretty good. There are spawn issues, lag, system freezing, mics not showing up and party issues just to name a few. Some of those issues most certainly came up in testing and yet they didnt address them yet and still have yet to address them. I feel cheated that I bought a half finished game. There are brief instances of awesomeness but I am generally pissed at Treyarch
-
I remember the lag in halo 3 back in 2009. It got so hectic that I eventually stopped playing. That happens a lot in Starcraft 1 too.
-
Yeah i suppose. They didn't have a beta for it so they didn't know what the bugs were until people started complaining. I'm pretty sure they are fixing it right now.
-
Ah, right I see. One company that was super bad at releasing bug-free games was Jester Interactive/Codemasters. I got all their MTV Music Generator games and they all contain bugs. Also most Youtube comments on Jester's motorcycle racing games complains about bugs and errors. Too bad because the MTVMG series was really great.
That said, even with betas new bugs can be discovered after release. Sometimes balance patches can come out as well, or new features added, which adds new bugs. X.x

agreed

Today, I tried Black Ops Multiplayer Online (4 persons in one PS3 playing versus more online), very cool, we are advantaged 'cos we can see each other's screens (split screen) and talk to each other.
-
Split screen is a bit annoying when you have a small TV, though. Otherwise it's great. I like playing games with friends, though, because it's easier to plan stuff. When you play with random people, sometimes they may all have a different strategy in mind. In Starcraft II, you can decide "Ok, 2 zergs and 1 protoss. Let's rush them hard!" or "Ok, I'm going air, mass zerglings and you get hydras/roaches", while when playing with random people, you have to plan after game started, which is slow and sometimes someone will just do what he wants. In team games, it's not just skills that matters, it's team work.
Also I heard that Black Ops online gaming is epic.

Black Ops fixed all Modern Warfare's 2 stupid things.
I hated MW2, totally hated, it had lots of unfair things and stuff to be fixed. The Black Ops just fixed all my PERSONAL complaints, did Activision enter my brain? This was a very good thing!
-
What kind of unfair things did it have? I heard lots of people liked it, but I never checked gameplay much.
In Starcraft 1, they kept patching the game until it's well-balanced. Now they're doing the same in SC2 to fix things that advantages races more than others. In Starcraft 1 the biggest example was the spawning pool costing 150 minerals instead of 200: most zerg players just did the 4-pool rush trick and it was nearly impossible to counter.
